The most likely cause is that the shredded paper, has tightly wrapped itself in the blades. One possible cause is by shredding labels (like Avery Labels) or any paper which has adhesive on it. (Causes it to attach the cut pieces to between the cutters.) It reaches a point where there is so much bound up on the blades that even a single sheet of paper will cause an overload. The fix is simple to describe, but difficult to accomplish. You must go in and manually remove all of the paper bound up in the blades. It's not easy, I found that using a needle nose pliers worked best. Lot of digging and tugging (paper will pack between the blades very tightly). Sometimes a small, slotted screwdriver will aid in being able to pry out bits and pieces (it's not going to come out in anything but small chunks; at best). Don't forget to unplug your shredder before you start; those blades are sharp. This happened several times with my last shredder *Royal), but not once with my current shredder (Fellows). I tend to believe that the better quality shredders are worth the extra money. But any shredder will become a problem if you shred labels (like Avery) or paper products that has adhesive on it. (Another common mistake is shredding junk mail that has any kind of adhesive associated with it. Best to open and check first.) One other thing, ALL shredders need to be oiled on a regular basis. They make special oil for this, you can usually find small bottles of it at Wally World or the like. Best practice is to squirt some shredder oil in a serpentine pattern. over a piece of paper to be shredded and run it through. Do this whenever you empty the shredder bin. (Important for the life of your shredder.)

SOURCE: red overload light is on

Try pouring some shredder oil into the throat where you normally insert the paper and run the machine in reverse.Put machine back into ready condition.
Put a piece of paper in the throat just enough so the machine should run but not all the way in so that the cutting mechanism catches the paper...all you want to do is make the machine run forwards but not actually be feeding in any paper.
If it wont even run in the forward direction you may have a pcb prob...give Royal a call at 1-800-524-0799 for parts assistance.

SOURCE: My shredder overload light comes

Try running the machine in reverse and putting some shredder oil onto the cutting blades to loosen things up. Then try running the machine in the forward direction but hold the paper in the eyes but dont let it go into the shredding blades...see if it runs forward.!
If it will do this then slowly try paper 1 sheet at a time..but put some shredder oil onto the sheets of paper you are shredding.
If the overload light still comes on without even letting you shred 1 sheet of paper then you likely have another problem...maybe the motor or pcb..you can contact Royal at 1-800-524-0799 for parts assistance.

Why does my ld100 shredder stop in middle of sheet

There could be several reasons why your LD100 shredder stops in the middle of shredding a sheet. Some possible causes include:
  • Overheating: The motor of the shredder may be overheating, causing it to shut off as a safety measure. Allow the shredder to cool down before trying again.
  • Paper jam: A paper jam may be causing the shredder to stop. Remove the jam and clear any debris from the shredder before trying again.
  • Overloading: The shredder may be overloaded with too many sheets at once. Feed the sheets in one at a time to avoid overloading the shredder.
  • Blocked cutting blades: The cutting blades may be blocked with debris, causing the shredder to stop. Clean the blades with a brush or compressed air and try again.
  • Faulty motor: The motor may be faulty and need to be repaired or replaced.
  • Power supply: Make sure the shredder is plugged in and that the outlet is providing power.
It's worth trying these solutions one by one and check if the shredder starts to work properly. If the problem persists, it would be best to contact the manufacturer's technical support for further assistance. They may have more specific troubleshooting steps to help you fix the issue.

My ativa 12 x-cut paper shredder runs for 1/2 sheet then stops. how would you identify problem and fix it

I'm having the same problem with my Ativa HS 1000 shredder. I disassembled it, cleaned it, and cleaned the sheet sensor. It still only shreds 1/2 sheet of paper and stops. Then I have to reverse it out, etc. I regularly oil the machine and in the past it did work for several years just fine, but this 1/2 sheet thing started recently and I'm also searching for a solution. I hope someone has an answer to our mutual problem.

While attempting to feed paper overload light comes on and shredder stops

Over load light comes on only when you have either put too thick a bundle of paper or too hard. So reduce the thickness according to the hardness of the paper. Start with a few sheets of paper only. then increase the number of sheets till you find the shredder is struggling hard to do the job. That is your limit. If you exceed this limit then it would stop shredding and may even burn the motor ultimately.

Clean light flashing

This may help in your situation. The following link explains how you may be able to clear the blinking clean light problem:

Now...keep in mind all dish washers are not alike and have different panel options. If you do not have the same set up as I have referenced, the tech sheet for your dishwasher will explain. The tech sheet is located behind the lower toe panel under the door and lists the proper sequence of buttons to push for diagnostics and troubleshooting.

NOTE: Sometimes the tech sheet is located behind the inner door panel. You will need to remove the screws securing the inner panel to access it if this is the case. Make sure you turn off the main power breaker before doing so.

Sometimes this can be a momentary glitch in operation. However, if the problem keeps reoccuring the number of flashes is an indication of which circuit is causing your problem. Again, refer to your tech sheet to determine this.

If you have any questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you solve your problem.

Keeps stopping after 10 seconds of operation

Motor is bad and needs to be replaced. It is drawing too many amps and tripping its overload. Once cool it will run again only to stop. About $100 for the motor.

Shows "LE" in display.

"LE" error means the motor has overloaded. There is no way to fix this yourself. You will probably need a new motor. Call for an engineer.

Paper jam light is on

Hi! I have the same issue. The only solution I still use: select print from document with no paper in the hp's feeder. Let the printer go on "paper out" message, now put the paper into the feeder and press the print button on the printer. Success!
