How do I get my typewriter (Royal Quiet De Luxe) to stop typing letters on top of each other? It works fine when I manually hold the carriage in place with one hand and type with the other, but when I don't do this, the carriage stays in one spot and types letters on top of each other. I thought it had something to do with the drawband but I *think* I have hooked it in the right place and there's still no change. What now?
I just have an underwood 18 typewriter and when I type the carriage doesnt move the margins are in the end and when I press the tab key It is moving but if press the space bar it doesnt move..what should I do?
Does the carriage move if you depress the tab key or space bar? Is there any pull on the draw band. Maybe the main spring is broken.
