try formatting to FAT32 or NTFS

Furthermore: When following the procedure for installing a new cartridge, if the red ink light was on or flashing, pressing the ink button will cause the carriage to stop with the cartridge that needs replacing under the "ink out mark" (ink droplet with a slash through it).

if the red light is on and one of the colors light is on too.
that means that that toner is empty. if the main light is blinking, it means that that toner is low.

Is the flashing light telling you that the multi-colored cartridge is in fact empty?

Are you using re-filled or third party cartridges? If so, then the printer will block the usage of thes types of cartridges because of the damage they can potenialy do to the print mechinisim.

? I wounder what color is your lamp - red or yellow (amber) and just so you know most parts stores now days can tell what a code is with out charging a dime to you.
