Try to check the printing preferences. File > Print > Preferences/Properties > Advanced tab > Choose Side Flip.

Why don't you just print the data on the one side of the page and then simply turn the page over and reinsert it into the paper feeder and then print the next bit of data, therfore you end up with both sides of the page printed without worrying about printer commands that seem to fail.

Open left door. Remove screw covering the white plastic cover. Observed the white gear that you will now see. Make sure that it is not broken. If this gear is broken, you will not be able to duplex. What is the full code numerical code of the error?

I think you're talking about double-sided or duplex printing. If so, you should be able to this through the Print dialog:

1.Press CTRL/P.
2.Check the Manual Duplex checkbox. This will cause Word to print one side of the sheets, then tell you to put the paper back in so it can print the other side.

When you want to print both sides of a page, when you go into the 'Print' command click on 'Properties' and another windows opens. Select 'Print Layou' and you will see a box marked 'Two-Sided' - click this box. The other option is if you want to flip from the top or turn from the side, like a book. Select which way (I use side flip) and click OK, which brings back to the start and click OK to print. Once the pages have printed you will still need to rotate the pages and place them back in the printer; there will be an instruction page printed halfway thru to show you which way to place the balance of the pages in the printer.
Might sound tuff, but once you've done it a coupla times, you won't even need to print the halfway intrsuction sheet. Good luck. Cheers.

in Lexmark X502n you can not do a duplex print as in print both sides which is actually a big surprise because overall its an amazing printer.

Go on this website and at the bottom you'll see that it has no duplex printing:

This cant be right, if you print on one side, then it is the same as when it prints the first page of a duplex print.

Paper should be face down, head to front for both, make sure you are using duplex driver for your printer and duplex option is ticked. (4250DuplexTwotrayNetwork)\

make sure trays on machine are identified with correct papertype (tray 2 plain and tray 3 letterhead or vice versa)

printer I beleive has setting too enable duplex in print menu.

tray one in manual feeder on these.

When I set these up sometimes I install the print driver twice, ones set to use letterhead and the other plain, so customer can just choose which ever one at print time.

Usally it is set up that you go to driver and select tray or windows decides depending on what doc type is set on what you are printing.

So you need to check settings on printer paper handling and printer menu, you also need to check driver on pc, if on a network you may need to have admin rights to change driver config on server if your system requires it. But you need to check drive has coorect tray/paper type and options too

You also need to check doc type settings on individual document being printed

I have 1000's of customers, running HP (including 4250dtn and this has never been a issue raised.)

Ignore manual, stick letter head in tray 2/3 face down front and print single sided, then use same tray and do it duplex, it will do as the first one did then turn it over and print other side.

I think most customers don't duplex on letterhead, they use that as cover then duplex on plain, but I cant see it not working if you did, otherwise I would of come across it buy now, this machines format has been around for ages and they are great workhourse printers once noisy swing plate gear fault is fixed (common 4250 fault)
