My Microsoft Paint Software does not allow scan to PC

I have many years experience repairing Canon scanners so here is my suggestion for you.

As long as the drivers that make your scanner/printer are installed correctly and you should be able to scan anything. You can use almost any software to scan with. Microsoft Paint will allow you to scan along with Paint shop pro or Adobe photoshop. Or you can google the make and model of your scanner and add capture perfect to the end of it and that should take you to a site where you can download capture perfect that program is free and it will scan both documents or pictures.

If you try to scan in another peice of software is the image still black? Try using Microsoft paint to scan a document or picture in with. If you get a good image then the software your using to scan with needs to be corrected its probably a setting in the software.

If you scan with another piece of software like microsoft paint and the image is still black then my guess is that your imaging lens is defective on your scanner and will need to be replaced. If that is the case its probably cheaper to buy a new scanner then to have it replaced.

However, HP is not going to guarantee it will work. This driver is a basic scanner driver without the rest of the software that HP provided for the scanner. If that driver or the generic TWAIN or WIA Microsoft scanner driver works, you will be able to scan to any Win7 compatabile software. Windows Fax and Scan and Microsoft Paint are built-in options (and acquire scans in Paint: File, Scanner or Camera, in Fax and Scan: File, New, Scan).

What I am going to say may not be relevant to your case, but a scanner needs to scan to some image format( a default format or one you select. So you computer needs to have some kind of imaging software installed.

Apparently, the only kind of imaging software the scanner detects is Windows Paint.

If this is really the case, go to the Internet and download some free imaging software: IRFANVIEW, or The Gimp.

But will try some generic answers

If by hard-copy you mean copy the actual text direct to lets say microsoft word then you need to use the OCR (optical character recognition) facilities of the application you are using
OR
In the case of MS office you would got to microsoft office tools.
select microsoft office tools from your programs menu. Then microsoft document imaging.

Now you would select scan new document from the file menu and then select black and white or another option suitable for the type of doc you are scanning. then hit the SCAN button then OK on the next box.(here you may get offered the same options again but in a different manner its just how office does it) again follow the on screen and hit scan.

When it is done it will put you back on the main document imaging page but there will be your document

Now select FILE then send text to word which will open word with the text in there.

Quality of capture and success in OCR varies but can be up to 99%

If on the other hand you just mean scan a page of text or a picture then the software that was installed for the scanner can do that for you or again you may use other application but the use of each will vary

Usually a scanner will be set to a default JPG picture format

Use the HP AIO director software to scan and follow the onscreen instructions that are there to guide you.

Or use Microsoft's PAINT if you are on XP. start PAINT then go to the file menu. select FILE and then select FROM SCANNER OR CAMERA

About here it may well offer you the HP scanning function. or show you a dialog to select if you have more than one capable device then select scan or preview if you just want to see how it will look. Scan will do just that and them open in paint to do with whatever you want

As you have apparently been the victim of a trojan in the past (although it didn't neccessarily mean you needed a change of HDD) you are quite right in your concern.

Any malware found can be cleard at the click of a button and will be self explanatory.

Next go here and download Malwarebytes (the free version) install and run.

Finally and MOST IMPORTANT ensure that whichever anti virus software you have installed is up to date and run a scan on a regular basis.

yes. it has the capability of scanning and faxing. install the required software following the procedure. use microsoft paint to carry out your scanning.

not a hardware or major software prob, but see that if any other software have the same prob...?
you will have to scan your pc through a best virus cleaner or remover. then will have to install a fresh O.S, and then install Paint Shop Pro X2, it will run faster then before..
