Hi, this is a bad transmission gear box that is stripped at the moment. i recommend purchasing a agitator kit and a new transmission Assembly and clutch as well. this will fix your issues

SOURCE: maytag PAV2300AWW Washer makes grinding sound when agitating

Sounds like it is the bearing on the water pump. Take off back plate and replace and remove 3 screws and two hoses (the one hose is a waste line so make sure you have a bucket to empty our waste water) after removing these remove belt on bottom of pump.

My washer is making a loud nosie when agitation starts

That is a normal sound when the transmission shifts from the last spin cycle to go into the agitate cycle. It should make a loud click sound that does not last longer than a second. There is nothing wrong with your washing machine.

Beginning of wash cycle starts agitating instead of filling w/water.

the water pressure/level switch contacts are welded together, usually the load selector switch for the amount of water lets it fill to a determined water level and the water level creates pressure in a tube from the tub to this switch and stops water fill and starts the wash agitation cycle, replace this switch inside the control panel

My Whirlpool Ultimate Care II LSB6300PW0 is about 6.5 years old. In the middle of a wash it started making a very loud humming noise. The machine wont agitate or spin. It still fills and drains the water...

Renee,

This might be too late for you but hope it helps!

I was able to fix a similar problem with the same model washer of a similar age so see if any of the following helps you.

Our washer died during a rinse/spin cycle and started making a horrific spinning/clicking sound when it was supposed to be agitating or spinning. It filled and drained like normal, and the horrific noise stopped when the lid was lifted.

Because of those two facts, I discovered it was likely the direct drive coupling, which connects the washer's motor to the transmission.

Turns out, that horrific sound was indeed the sound of one of the couplings spinning uselessly after it broke.

After some internet research, I discovered it was a simple matter of getting and installing the new coupling, which was very easy to do with a little professional help via YouTube:

Also, here is the website of a parts supplier with great schematics and great prices that I bought the part from.

Good luck!

GE washing machine does not run, gives humming noise

A washing machine is a simple product.

When trouble shooting anything you have to know what is supposed to do and what is it not doing.

At the begining of a washing machine cycle the machine fills with water until a switch is made telling the machine it is full and ready to agitate. Since it never fills it will stick in that part of the cycle.

When you start a cycle and no water enters the drum you have one of three problems:

1. The water supply is shut off.
2. The solenoid valve that supplies the water is not opening.
3. No power to the washing machine.

Since you are hearing a hum, the machine seems to be trying to activate that valve,
The humming noise comes from the electromagnetic field that activates the valve,

Washing machine fills in the water but does not start the wash cycle

The fact that it does not fill completely can be related to a problem with the water-level switch, that regulates the water level.

See from Repairclinic:
"This switch is usually a diaphragm device with a small, clear tube attached between the switch and the bottom of the washer's outer tub. As the water level in the tub increases, the pressure on the air in the tube increases. When the pressure reaches a certain level, it activates the switch, shuts off the water, and signals the timer to begin the agitate cycle. If the switch is defective, it may prematurely signal the water to shut off. If so, you probably need to replace the water-level switch."

However, when it is only the switch the mashine usually completes the cycle, but with less water than normal.

A possibilty is that either the timer is faulty or there is a problem with the water supply.

Check that water is coming from water supply with regular pressure, and that hoses back there are not obstructed.

More likely you will have to replace the timer.

See again from Repairclinic:
"When the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem:

  • It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer.

  • It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water. See There's no cold water."

  • You can find parts at the following websites, you need to input your model number. If the part is not listed contact them.
