Canon iP6600D printer keep printing in Blak ink only

My Canon Pixma iP 6600D printer has printed out several times today using just black in even though there is colour ink in it,I went to 'Print - Preferences' & in the little grayscale printing box there is a tick, each time I have gone to print something the tick is back there again even though I keep removing it. How can I get it to stop being there all the time

I did a search & found this [To reset the print color, go to the Print Preferences, make sure Grayscale is not checked. Check Print Advisor, click Default. You should be back to printing color.] hopefully it will solve my problem

1st option, set the default profile in the printer properties. if it doesnt work. this will change all the settings that you might missed to check to go back to factory setings. also, check if your color cartridge is ok and with enough ink and not dis abled
2nd option, run any 3rd party software that can fix some windows system files or something like that. try to scan pc for viruses
3rd option, reformat your pc. maybe windows files that allows your printer to work are having problems or corrupted, base on the thing that you mentioned that it goes back to the grayscale settings

SOURCE: canon ip1000 not printing even after replacing a new ink catridge

This might seem a dumb answer, but have you removed the PULL tab over the breathing hole. I had a similar problem until I realised my error.

SOURCE: Hi. I have a Canon

Hi
Follow these steps;
- Open the document you want to print - Go to 'file' - 'Print' - click 'properties' in the print window - in the menu select 'Maintenance' - in the 'Maintenance' click 'Ink Cartridge Settings' - select 'Black Only' - click 'OK' - again click 'OK' - now you can print only using the black ink in the printer.
Hope this helps, Please rate if this solution was helpful. thanks!

I have a canon pixma IP6600D printer and just replaced blue, yellow and black ink and the colors are not coming out right

Go to "start menu", then "settings", then "printers and faxes". Right click o your printer, then click on "properties". A window with numerous tabs will open. Go to "maintenance". Click on "deep cleaning" or "cleaning". That will clean the print head that is in your printer, and the colors should come out right.
If the printer hasn't been working for a while, you will need to repeat the cleaning process several times in order to get a satisfying result.
Do bare in mind that this process uses a lot of your ink.

Color toner used up even though I selected grayscale

Selecting grayscale only will also make use of your color. when u select grayscale, look under the print options and select black cartridge only and for more economic printing, use fast draft or draft printing.

Won't print with just black ink cartridge

When you print, in the printing window, click properties, then click advanced. Most times you can select to print using black cartridge only. Unfortunately you will need to replace to get the printer working. If you need further assistance let me know.
Thank you,

Canon pixma ip6600d omitting black ink

Many printers use color to make black, you may have to FORCE it to use the black ink cartridge for black or turn off something that is telling the printer to use the color cartridges for the black.

That's my educated guess anyway...

I do know that some printers do this, so I'm assuming this is what is giving you trouble. I don't know why it would print any different on a memory card than from the computer though...

Canon ink tank problems

I think I figured this B!tch out.

When you get the error:
"More than one ink tank of the following color is installed" or
"Ink cartridge not recognized"

Open up the lid where the cartridges are and hold done the "SEARCH" button. This has been working for me, and I bought my ip6600d in 2005, so my machine is old, and ready for this..........ORIGINAL INK!!! Never really used it beyond printing very few pics. So I was really pissed when I found these messages to almost 5 years after buying this printer. So to recap, open the lid where the ink cartridges are while holding the "SEARCH" button, hold it up for like 5 to 10 seconds, place lid down still holding the search button, then let go of the search button. I did notice the alarm was lit, but went away after I released the search button. Good Luck!!!

Until I held the search button down I had turned of the printer, reseeded the cartridges and open and closed the lid but it never worked.

Use of black ink

My husband answered this for me- it takes different colors to make black, therefore it uses some of the color ink
