I have an old Palm M125 monocrome hand held unit and have not used it online before now. It has software for the desktop etc on CD but it is too old for windows vista. I do not have outlook on this PC. The desktop should work OK to sync data on the PC with the PDA if I understand the functions of the desktop correctly. Anyone with info on whether this unit will work with VISTA and what software is required etc. I have OFFICE HOME & STUDENT which includes WORD, EXCEL and POWERPOINT. The CD received with the palm has desktop etc but totally non-functional on VESTA. A newer version for the palm desktop and hotsync would be helpful if it is compatible with Windows VESTA.

Older palm products and vista aren't compatible. You either needs to transfer info via bluetooth or upgrade your palm if you wish to continue using vista.

well i had the same problem, and the problem turn to be that the latest software is ****! uninstall that software and install the palm desktop 4.14 that should do it! its sound like old but its the same thing!
With this method of upgrading your handheld, you'll transfer all PIM¹ data from your existing user name to your new handheld with the same user name. You will also transfer all third-party applications to your new handheld.
Caution: Some third-party applications may not be compatible with your new handheld. Your handheld will crash, freeze or display an error when these third-party applications conflict with your new handheld. If you notice performance issues or problems after transferring third-party software to your handheld, follow our steps for diagnosing third-party software issues.
You must install the version of Palm Desktop and HotSync Manager included on the CD-ROM with your new handheld, even if you already have an earlier installation on your computer, and even if you will synchronize with Microsoft Outlook. This ensures that the desktop components of any new handheld features are added.
Put the new handheld's CD-ROM² in the CD-ROM drive.
Follow the installation instructions that appear.
When prompted, select the existing username of your old handheld.
During installation, you will be asked to perform a HotSync operation. Use the same existing username as above.
Once installation is complete, your PIM¹ data and third-party applications will be transferred to your new handheld. Your new handheld will have the same name as your old handheld.
To avoid confusion, change the name on your old handheld once you're sure that you have all your data transferred to your satisfaction. If you're going to sell or give it away, you may wish to perform a hard reset to erase all your personal data.

not sure what the question is... it's plug and play... hook up your palm to the computer... windows will install the drivers it needs to connect to the palm automatically... yer good to go
You can try cleaning the contacts on both the palm and the cradle. For the Palm itself you can try a small pencil eraser.
For the cradle a little isopropyl alcohol on a cotton swab works well.
Do examine the palm socket closely, sometimes the socket is damaged and may recess into the unit so it cannot seat properly
I was having a similar problem with my M515. I had originally installed the Palm Desktop from my CD, which was an older version. When I totally uninstalled the old version and installed the newer version from the Palm website I was able to do a successful sync. I'm using Windows Vista Ultimate and Palm Desktop version 4.1.4
To the best of my knowledge, if you don't have a pc backup, you are out of luck....

Download the Palm Desktop Software and start to use it if you decide to continue using the Zire 21.
The Software is free from Palm.
Change ur sync method.
To change the sync from palm desktop to outlook , insert the installiation disc in and then install the pocket mirror conduits conduits that will help u to sync with outlook .
