Welcome to Fixya
Sounds like the problem is the LCd screen already. Have you tried doing a hard reset to your palm? The data in your palm can only be transferred using Hotsync. Try uninstall/install the software again to the new computer. May i know the Windows OS of the new computer and what is the model of your Palm.
Thank you for using FIxya! If you need further help, reach me via phone at

It is possible that the battery has lost it's skill. If you can plug it in, either by usb to a computer or through the power supply, and the screen shows it is a goner.
The link below is for the palm zire m150 if your interested in replacing the battery yourself. The zire 21 is similar to that model so it's pretty much universal.

Palm Desktop: Windows 7 compatibility
Palm's synchronization software,
Palm Desktop 6.2, was designed for 32-bit versions of Windows XP and Windows Vista. Palm has not done thorough testing with the broad range of third-party equipment running Windows 7 and therefore can't provide assurances about compatibility.

You may need to do a hard reset.
To perform a hard reset:
1. Press and hold the power button on the front panel of the handheld.
2. While holding the power button, use the tip of an unfolded paper clip (or similar object without a sharp tip) to gently press and release the reset button.
3. Wait for the Palm Powered™ logo to appear; then release the power button.
4. When a message appears on the handheld screen, warning that you are about to erase all the data stored on your handheld, press any other button to perform a soft reset.

Use a small torx or if none available, a small screwdriver to gently remove the two screws on the back of the unit. Gently pry the sides away from the back. Open the unit carefully. Remove the two screws securing the system board to the back of the Zire. Gently open( like a book) the boards and screens. Once I did that I turned the Zire on using the switch that is only a small bump on the sytem board. After a gentle tap pr two the touchpad bagan working again. Carefully reassemble the unit and hope it lasts another while. Just in case, do a Hotsync so that your data is saved should this "adjustment" fail to solve your problem.

No, I'm not willing to pay for you to fix my problem, because I feel that after paying nearly $100.00 for my Palm, that you should at least help me get it so I can use it properly, And since that doesn't seem to be where you are. forget it. Unless you are willing to help me get started with my Palm free.
Thank you

To the best of my knowledge, if you don't have a pc backup, you are out of luck....
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news...
Download the Palm Desktop Software and start to use it if you decide to continue using the Zire 21.
The Software is free from Palm.
