My Neptune washing machine gets stuck where it won't start a cycle - just beep-beep-beep when I press the "Start" button. Sometimes pressing "Off" or opening/closing the door makes it work. I imagine this to be a feature to prevent you from accidentally washing the same load twice, but I sometimes go through 15 minutes of open-close-door and Off-Start before it works.

hi Melanie.

If the water won't drain out of your washing machine, either something is stuck in the drain hose or pump, or the pump is broken. Both fixes are simple if you're even just a little bit handy with tools. We're showing the repair on a Maytag washing machine. If your washer fills with water but doesn't agitate, the problem is likely to be a faulty lid switch, a broken belt, or a problem with the motor. (Note: Direct-drive washing machines do not have belts.) To diagnose the problem, do the following: 1Check the washing machine's spin cycle Washer Doesnt Agitate or Spin Maytag Washing Machines will not rinse or spin Google Search
Sounds like the door lock may be faulty or it isn't closed fully. If it has a child lock check you haven't set it by mistake, you have to hold the start for 5 secs+ to override it.
check your pump down at the bottom of the machine take the bottom plinth off the plastic that runs along the bottom of the machine once off you will see your pump undo the plastic screw and get your self a towel and a small and big bowl there will be a lot of water so when you have took the screw out start turning the pump cap very slowly and when you have filled the small bowl close it and keep repeating it till all water is gone then take it right out if its stuck then pull it clean it out and put back together don't for get to turn your machine off be for doing any thing ok hope i have helped if after you have done the pump and the machine still do the same thing then its programmer ok
Hi Debi: First I suggest to try unplugging the unit for 60 seconds to reset the control board. If that doesn't work then open the dispenser and remove the softner and bleach container. There is a cord near the front you can pull to open the door lock. If you still have issues with your door lock after manually opening the door, you will need to order and replace the door latch assembly.
Also I could bet you need to replace your door latch assembly. Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I'll appreciate
your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about

So I understand the issue. Does the wash cycle start up? By that I mean if you release the washer top from the base do the tumblers turn once the water fill cycle is complete?
If you don't have the FAV6800A/FAV9800A Service Manual (you can't get it on line anymore) see this post Clutch Fix I describe how to release the washer top from the base to observe the wash basket. Don't raise during the water fill cycle wait till that completes.
Does the key pad beep as you press the other cycle select key pads?
This could be a Control Board issue...........Rich
Check latch mechanism for alignment. Often operation of machine loosens latch mechanism causing internal switch for "door open (or ajar)" preventing rinse or spin cycle. Opening and closing door presses latch mechanism closing internal switch allowing for continue processing to rinse or spin cycles.
there some simple solutions but may not always work but everyone should try. underneath when the water pump engage with the tub. there;s a white plastic clip press it out and turn the water pump. it will come off the tub. before doing this you should have the washer disconnected. have someone or put something under so the washer won;t fell on you while reaching down. sometimes debris gets stucks on the way from the tub to the pump. it insert your fingers inside once the pump is taken out and if you find debris take it out. put back the pump and connect the washer again. this can be a very simple solution it won;t work all the times. but what if it does. :)
