Paper jam error, but no jam present

Lexmark x3430 all-in-one printer/scanner/copier continues to show "paper jam" error, but there's no jam present. Something seems to be wrong with part of the paper feed mechanics. The machine will pull the paper down a few inches, but doesn't feed it far enough to where the paper gets any ink on it and then when the machine tries to send the paper out of the machine, I can here the gears turnings, but the paper not being far enough "ahead", is left in place and the jam error appears.

have tried various types of paper, all of which have worked fine in the past. the issue doesn't seem to be related to paper size or type. thanks though.

I have Lexmark p4350 I can not copy, and show error 2200

According to the Lexmark site the 2200 error is a jam, possibly the scanner. Try unpluging the power at the printer, remove the paper, and see if there is any paper stuck in the unit. Another possibility is the cartridges are messed up. If you don't find paper stuck, remove the cartridges, and reinstall the color one. If the error goes away, the black cartridge is possibly bad. Another problem you can't fix, which is the scanner glass cracked. In that instance or if the cartridge swap doesn't work, contact Lexmark to fix the unit.

How do i fix my LEXMARK X3430?

Leading cause of paper jams is debris / foreign objects that accidentally fell into the paper feed area. Please try this approach to fix the problem:

  1. Remove the sheets of paper from the feeder.
  2. Grab a flashlight and look inside the feeder for any debris or foreign objects.
  3. If you're willing and physically able, you may also carefully turn the printer over. Any debris should just freely roll out from the feeder.
  4. If feeder is clear, place the printer on the table. Open the printer cover and remove the cartridges.
  5. Check the cartridge area for any obstructions in the paper path.
  6. Close the printer cover.
  7. Re-brick your printer by pulling out the power supply - the black box where the power cord is plugged into. Re-plug after 30 seconds.
  8. When the printer turns on, reinsert the cartridges and load some paper. Try to print again to verify that the problem is fixed.
If that doesn't help, try to re-seat the cartridges by removing and re-inserting them into the printer. Make sure they are properly seated and secured.
I hope this helps.

Printer wont print. The orange light is lit up on the second spot from the left which shows an up and down squiggle line. Cant find my manual to show me what this error message means.

The light means that the printer has a paper jam.

To resolve this, Press Continue twice quickly to see the secondary error code. Press Continue to resume printing once all the jammed pages are cleared from the paper path.

What does the "heart beat" symbol/light mean?

I assume you mean the symbol that has a pair blackened circles and then a pulse up and then down below the starting line before returning to the starting line.

That is the paper jam symbol. If the continue light is on (steady) and the paper jam light is on, then you have a paper jam. Press Continue twice to see any secondary error message (this will show where the problem is).

See the manual for the list of the lights that show where the jam is occurring. Different groups of lights will be lit. The manual is available as a PDF at the bottom of this page: http://support.lexmark.com/index?locale=EN&page=product&userlocale=EN . An example: if the Continue, Toner Low and Paper Jam are all on, then the jam is in the fuser area under the print cartridge assembly. For a paper jam, even a small corner of torn paper could be in the mechanism.

In all cases, you should check the entire paper path. When you pull out any paper, grip it so that you can gently pull the sheet straight out. Remove all paper from the output tray. Then remove the paper tray if you are using it. Pull any paper from this area. Press down on the green duplex flap and remove any paper from there Reinsert the paper tray. Open the front door of the printer and remove the print cartridge assembly. Lift the green flap and remove any paper from the area. NOTE: the fuser and the fuser area may be hot. Open the rear exit door and remove any paper from that area. Use a flashlight to check for small pieces of paper that may be stuck. Once all the paper is removed, reinstall the print cartridge assembly and close all the doors. Press Continue to reset the printer.

The page that jammed may be reprinted.

I hope this helps.

(please note that frequent paper jams may be a sign of excess humidity in the paper. Put less paper in the tray at each refill and keep the remaining paper in a dry location. If the paper jam light is coming on when no paper jam is present, one or more of the paper jam sensors may be bad. Contact Lexmark for more information.)

LexMark x3430 printer

Hi,
Here is a guide of all possible paper jam locations on the X340 printer. http://bit.ly/cS4lpm
If still no paper is found on any of those places then the printer has a faulty sensor. Depending on the paper jam numeric error is the sensor that may be failing.

Paper jam

I had the same problem, managed to fix it after a few tries by shutting off the printer, raising the scanner unit and pushing the ink cartridge unit all the way to the right and back to the left, when the printer was turned back on the error was gone and printing continued normally. Hope this will solve the problem with anyone else. [email protected]
