Is there any way to reduce output power of this amp so that it wont fry 400w subs?

500x 1 is 500watts/1 channel.

First you will bring up the volume on the head unity to the point where your mid speaker will no have distortion. Now slowly bring up the gain on the amp to the point where it will not have distortion. If you looking at the sub speaker while doing that you will see at some point the speaker can take no more.So set it just below that point.

How to use a surround sound with tv not just dvd

If you have cable/FiOS TV/SATV,than you will have to connect a digital(fiber optic SPIDF or RCA type) form the set-top box to the suuround-sound system to get TRUE surround sound.I haven't come across a TV with this ouput, but not sure if some do.(If you use RCA analog audio cords from the ouput of theTV itself to an input of the sound system it will work, but it will be a glorified stereo sound, not true surround sound.

How do i get me my bush pro400 surround system to work on my normal tv channels

All you need is to connect the TWO RCA jacks- Audio ouputs- red and black - to the TV's audio outputs and into the AUX/LINE IN/AUDIO IN INPUT of the BUSH . Now switch on TV and select AUX and then SURROUND on the Bush system and you must be able to get the sound all around.

Lux Audio 5.1 home theater speaker & Yamaha HTR 5540 AMP

configure ur PC (both OS audio and third party sound driver) for surround sounds. control panel- sounds and audio devices - speaker settings - advanced - speker settings. so this done. make sure u select the 6 input channel - the button is on the right edge near the volume knob. near the vol button there are two buttons for selecting input type with up down arrow. from that u can select the input type this will be indicated on the top front indicator. but with the 6 input channel selected all selections are preceeded. if u select stereo mode u will have left/ right audio only.
make sure u connect the input right. connect from computer to 6 channel input. main, surround, center and sub-woofer.  connect the spekers to main (L/R), rear(surround) (L/R), center and sub woofer to terminal marked sub woofer ouput. this done select like i said before the 6 channel button. that should do it.

Jensen vm9413 no audio ouput

i thought my banswer went through but i guess not so i'll do so again.Often a defective speaker can cause this problem. So before you decide to replace the unit or repair it,when this happens again disconnect one speaker at a time and see if it doesn't come back on after connecting a specific speaker and goes off if you reconnect it.If it does you've found your problem. But sometimes a speaker doesn't melfunction until put under a strain. So you can also check by seeing if it shuts down at higher volumes and plays longer at low volumes which will tell you also that it is an external not internal propblem.Let me know what happens after the speaker test

My emerson EWV603 vcr. When I turn it on or when I insert a videocasette, the screen is blue. How do I get to the menu stuff so that I can program my vcr?

Sounds like your VCR & TV are on different channels.
The VCR's ouput is channel 3 or 4. Try turning your TV to either channel and see if you get a picture. OR try playing the tape and after 2 or 3 seconds, push the play button again for a few seconds to change the VCR's ouput channel.

My JVC receiver won't play my left front speaker. The right one seems to work fine but when I plug in the left it is virtually silent. i too have had a few "overload" incidents and am running two JBL 8...

swap the wires around to see if the right speaker will give sound on the left channel. If it does, the it's a blown left speaker. If you don't get sound out the right one either, then the left channel ouput has a bad capacitor somewhere in it.

Amp makes loud noise, why?

Make sure its a good ground. Make sure your audio cables running from your radio are not running on the same side as your power cables running to your amp. Sometime that can cause alot of noise in the lines
