I have just bought a boat which has a alpine 7618r fitted but its not working can i slide a moden cd/mp3/usb replacement unit in there using existing wiring /speaker loom

Yes you can replace that unit however the harness that plugs into the old alpine in all probability will not work with another radio so you will have to connect the new radio's wiring harness to the boat's harness.

A Napa battery charger 85-437 ,both clamps came off does it matter which clamps goes on what wire coming out of the charger,there is a solid black and a black wire with a white stripe Thanks

They are polarized so it does matter if they are the battery clamps.

No Valid Disc

I had tried cleaning the lens like most solutions said to do, with no luck. I tried what user gthumm said he/she tried, which was taking off the back of the player. Their problem was the white wheel (motor) and the next wheel (black) were not turning smoothly. He/she pushed the white wheel down until it snapped back in, allowing the wheels to turn. I tried it twice and finally, I have a working portable dvd player again! Yeah! Thank you so much gthumm and fix ya team! My kids especially thank you! You are the BEST!

Try the following which i managed to get from POWER ACOUSTIK technical support:

Multi-region for PTID4006T, 406T, 4005, 405, 8006T, 8004, 4003, 5000, 5800, 5300, 530.

1. Turn the unit on and insert a DVD disc. The unit will display LOADING.

2. While the DVD player is LOADING press the following keys:
SET-UP, then press 0, 0, 0, 0 key (0 four times), then ARROW DOWN key (to change the zone to region all 0), then BAND/ENTER key and SET-UP

3. To finish the procedure, push the EJECT key. The disc will eject... Wait and the DVD disc will re-load and play.
