Dark Picture I have a VT46 that I purchased 2 years ago. I replaced the lamp about a year ago when the indicator came on. And everything has been fine since then until about a week ago when the picture began to get darker and darker. The lamp indicator/light has not come appeared. When I check the lamp usage in the menu, it's only 58%. So, I'm not sure what the issue is.

Hello,

No, you do not have a bad circuit board, the problem is still from the lamp you fixed on it. Have it checked once again to see to it that there was no slight difference in the way you have been fixing it.

If you have a bad circuit board, there would be a complete alteration in the functioning of the television.

Since the problem has to do with the lighting and picture of the television, it has to do with either the lamp or t-com board, so check them both.

Take care

Tv brightness/vibrant

Most of the projection lamps are recommended to be replaced after 2 years. The older they get the more dim they will become. I would suggest replacing the lamp again. Some of the aftermarket lamps do not work as well as the factory replacement. I always spend the extra money and get one from Samsung.

Picture is dark

Adjust video settings:
  1. Press Wega Gate
  2. Select Settings
  3. Highlight Video
  4. Press + to select
  5. Adjust/increase the brightness.
  6. Press Wega gate to exit.
If picture is still dark, you need to replace the lamp again. Sony recommends that you replace the lamp:
  1. After approximately 8,000 hours of use.
  2. When the screen becomes dark or the color becomes unusual.
  3. When the lamp indicator on the front of the TV flashes.

Tv will not turn on

For dark picture I need to ask one question, How long ago you replaced its lamp? one year, two years?

Picture brightness is depends on lamp in LCD rear projection (DLP) TVs and if lamp got weak in generating light, you will see dark picture.

I would recommend to replace lamp and buy Sony original lamp from Sony Accessories Store.

Required lamp part number is as follows..
F93087500 LAMP BLOCK ASSY XL-2400
and price is $200
Good luck.

Dark display

You most likely have a defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom:
  • Screen flashs on red/pink and off.
  • Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal.
  • Picture flickering with dim display.
  • Picture flickering on and off.
All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replacing the CCFL lamp

Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power it up, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight.

Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

Blue screen

I would suggest getting another optical block from the repair man. Apparently even some replacement blocks have had issues...
