You have to replace the cartridge. The chip is siliconed in.

SOURCE: how do i reset the toner cartridges

You simply can't reset the chips by using tape on the contacts.

The 'chip' on the CLP-510 cartridges has a counter that is updated by the printer when it is used (even if it is only a single dot of that colour).

The ONLY way to reset these chips is to use s special device that writes data to the chip placing a ZERO into the page counter. Or to solder in a new chip. FACT.

The 'chip' also identifies the colour of the cartridge and its capacity. If you cover the contacts the printer doesn't know a cartridge is there, can't tell what colour it is, and can't tell what the capacity and current page count are.

If you use (say) a Cyan chip in a Black cartridge, it just won't work.

Chip resetter boxes are not cheap, being around £150, as they are intended for the cartridge re-manufacturers.

If you want to be able to re-fill your Samsung CLP-510 cartridges yourself, you'll just have to learn to use a soldring iron.

How to reset supplies on HP 2840 laserjet?

"Would like report of supplies from 2840 laserjet. How to get it to show report"

Select 'Menu" button, then select "Reports", then select "Supplies Report".

This will print the status of the four toner cartridges and the drum.

It doesn't make sense to reset toner cartridges UNLESS you refill them
first. On the HP 2840 each cartridge/drum contains a chip that measures
the life of the unit.

You can purchase toner/chip combinations online cheaper than new
cartridges. I also purchase drum chips to extend the use of my drum
until print quality actually starts to deteriorate.

I use both of these methods to save money on supplies - buy toner and
toner chips, buy drum chip to get full use of drum unit.

Hope this helps.

Can you help me reset toner HP 1536DNF printer?

The print cartridge in these printers utilizes a non-resettable chip. If you have purchased a refilled cartridge the seller should have replaced the chip. If you just bought toner you will need to source a chip, likely Ebay will be your best bet.

Installed new toner cartridge on hp laserjet 2300 and getting install cartridge error on LCD

Its possible that you just got a bad toner cartridge. There is a chip on the toner cartridge that could be bad. I would shut the printer off and then back on. Confirm that the tape has been removed then firmly reset the toner cartridge back into the printer. If that doesn't work then try another or the previous cartridge. This could be an issue with the printer but I find that very unlikely.

Do the reset chips really work on the cartridges of HP 2500N laserjet printer

Yes, reset chips really work on laser printer cartridges, if you have a know good source for the chips and if you know what your doing, you can't put a new chip on an old cartridge, the chip is what registeres how may prints you will get out of the cartridge if you put a new chip on an old or 1/2 empty cartridge of course it will say it's full but then try and print. It will register as a full cartridge but it can only print with the amount of toner that is actually left in the cartridge, be careful there are alot of remanufactures out there that don't put new chips on or that do but don't fill the cartridge full, or replace all the wipers and drums, they just dump some toner in and say here you go, Only buy your remanufactured cartridges from a reputable company, do your research on them first or you'll be sorry

This machine ran out of toner today, but didn't give a local notification that it was low. I have tried to find the setting to enable this notification via the printer's web page, but am unable to find it....

Thank you for contacting FixYa with your printer inquiry.
HP toner cartridges for this printer have an embedded chip built into the cartridge that prompts "Low Toner" message locally and will broadcast through its WEB server. Non HP Toner Cartridges or Refilled HP Toner Cartridges will no longer have the chip enabled to generate this message. You can continue to print but the toner level status will not be generated.
Solutions; Purchase new HP Toner cartridge's from reliable source.
Try a third party replacement chip"

I have M1522n laserjet Hp printer and keep getting error message 10.1000 supply memory error what does this mean

Hello I seen this not the net so you can gave it a go

The HP LaserJet 2300 toner cartridge has a smart chip on the top left side. This chip tells the printer when the toner is low.

Recycled toners do not or can not reset the chip, therefore when you use a recycled toner you may get toner low messages although the toner is good.

Also, you may get the 10.10.00 error. We have devised a work around to fool the printer into not displaying the message.

Place a stip of opaqe tape or paper or the chip. When the printer detects a non-standard cartridge press the green (go) button. It will then reset the LCD to Ready.

Found this info on a recycled manufacturer site.

How do i install a toner chip on my hp Cp2025

TONER CHIP on CP2025 printer:
This resource may help
http://resources.lasertekservices.com/hp-smart-chips-overriding-this-lockout-mechanism-with-reset-chips/
Gives types of chips to use, sales in USA, and certain things to take note of.
The toner reset chip replaces the original HP ID chip and is designed to be used only on refilled HP cartridges.
It is not recommended to force toner cartridges to run on empty, as this can cause damage to both the printer and the toner cartridge.
The reset chips are dedicated to one color only, so that user can not swap toners.
As for actual physical installation, just push the new ID chip in until it clicks into place. The correctly manufactured ones should be a snug fit.
I have seen techs using a drop of contact glue behind the chip-board to secure it.
Copper pads face outwards towards matching printer pins.
See photo for polarity 'square' pad.
My printer is Samsung, not HP, so your toner cartridge may be a different shape.

I am trying to reinstall the black ink cartridge to a hp2605dn and it keeps saying the error 10.1000

I found this info on the web for you, guessing you are using a recycled or generic cartridge:

The HP LaserJet 2300 toner cartridge has a smart chip on the top left side. This chip tells the printer when the toner is low.

Recycled toners do not or can not reset the chip, therefore when you use a recycled toner you may get toner low messages although the toner is good.

Also, you may get the 10.10.00 error. There is a work around to fool the printer into not displaying the message.

Place a strip of opaque tape or paper on the chip. When the printer detects a non-standard cartridge press the green (go) button. It will then reset the LCD to Ready.

No guarantees but it seems plausible.
