Zwf12070w1 replaced belt now very noisy on fast spin

The machine stopped spinning. on opening the back belt saw that belt had come off. replaced the belt but then when on spin cycle it now makes a loud grinding/whining sound. tried tightening the mounting for the drive pulley ( which i'd mistakenly loosened whilst refitting belt). improved a little but problem still remains. also tried pressing start button and button to the left (as stated on another post) so lights were scrolling and then move the dial around slowly clockwise etc. what else do i need to do? any advice would be greatly appreciated jon.

Hi. Your mistake with not tentioning the belt when you switched probably caused your main bearing to shot. Check if your motor is centred with the drum

SOURCE: "howling" noise during spin cycle (still there after changing burned off belt)

Travioso, there was two service flashes out on this model concerning the seal and bearing which means they had an issue with this washer. The howling noise you are hearing is the bearing and will need the new designed triple seal and bearing kit. This should be covered under your warranty, I believe it is 5 years. The numbers for the service flashes are TDL-0048A-B. Call Maytag and inquire about these service flashes, these should be covered. Catriver.

SOURCE: Spin Cycle/Machine makes noise and moves

You can't tight up the tub. You should replace the damper pads that located beneath main support housing on base's machine. Goog luck !

SOURCE: Washing Machine Moves in Spin Cycle

There are 2 things you can do.
All washing machines have an off balance shut off, some are touchy, some let it run around the house. With wht machine empty, lean it towards you, on the 2 front feet, about 2 or 3 inches and let it drop. The self leveling feet in the rear must BOTH make good floor gontact and sometimes, just the weight of the machine will not adjust them. The other thing is, make sure the load is evenly distributed. Coats, blankets, small rugs etc. are very heavy when wet and they tend to throw all of the weight to one side.
There is no screw holding the yub in place. It hangs on the center post, where the agitator goes. There is however, what's called a snubber. It is a rubber device that looks like a flattened suction cup, that comes in contact with the tub. It helps keep the tub from jumping around too much.

You are right!

Bearings have to be replaced. Replace with the same type and design. All the bearings connected to the washer center shaft has to be replaced at the same time with new set.

Replace the water seals also connected to this. Check the shaft where the bearing sits, for any abrasions or metal damage.

Check the bearing housing also. While carrying out these repairs check the drive belt also. If needed replace it.

If you are happy with the machine outer body and other aspects repair it and re-use it.

Testimonial: "Thanks for the quick reply Ambari, that's exactly what I wanted to know. Atleast I'll some idea if the repair bloke is pulling a swifty. Cheers"

If this sound starts slow and gets faster till its helicopter sounding you probly have a verry worn spot on the drive belt when that spot goes around the pully it will thump the faster ti spins the more frequent the sound If you tilt the washer back you should be able to see the belt to examine it if this the problem

There was a rubber smell, now washer won't spin.

It is possible that the bearings supporting the drum have seized

Was the machine noisy before it stopped?

If there is tension on the belts and the drum is locked then the motor will spin and burn the belts.

Dryer guide wheel was noisy and I opened the dryer up and found the wheel and stud badly scored. Fixed that and put machine back together and now the motor is very noisy and the machine shuts off...

you need to check the blower fan. the motor has a "D" shaped shaft. over time the blower wears, the motor will spin but the blower does not. the air flow stops and the drier over heats. replace the blower and it should be fine.

Wm noisy

drum bearings, check and investigate, remove drive belt and then rotate, if still noisy then yes its the drum bearings, if the noise stops when the belt removed the motor bearings are faulty costly repair on most models, sorry oh there is also the possibility there is something lodged within the drum cavity between the lining and the drum casing
