My black ink does not print - the color ink does print. The black ink is full. Any suggestions.

You have to run a head cleaning cycle:
Follow these steps to clean the print head:
ink light is off.
ink button for 3 seconds until tBlack ink not printing - cp_light_1.gifuploads/images/cp_light_1.gif" alt="cp_light_1.gif" class="h_mi" /> On light starts flashing. The Stylus CX runs a Black ink not printing - cp_light_1.gifcycle and the 
Caution:
Never turn off the Stylus CX while head cleanBlack ink not printing - cp_light_1.gifress. You may damage it.
On light stops flashing, turn off the Stylus CX.
Press the

Note:
If you don't see any improvement after cleaning the print head three times, turn off the Stylus CX and wait overnight. This lets any dried ink soften. Then try cleaning the print head again.
If you do not use your Stylus CX often, it is a good idea to print a few pages at least once a month to maintain good print quality.

In case you have removed the empty colour cartridge from the printer put it back it will allow you to print. If the empty cartridge is still there and its not allowing you to print in black ink then you need a new colour cartridge .

A part solution is print/properties/maintenance/ink cartridge settings/select black only.
You do initially have to buy another color cartridge but you won'thave to buy another expensive color cartridge again in the future.

If you have carried out 4 to 5 head cleans, waited about 8 hours and done another 3 or head cleans doing nozzle checks after each clean (as recommended by the manual) and there is still no improvement then you will need a third party head cleaning solution such as this one:

Check your settings i=under the Services Toolbox. Also go into printer preferences and see if you can force it to print in black only.
