Your color cartridge may need some cleaning. If you're using Windows, go to Start menu > Prorgrams/All Programs > Lexmark 2600 Series > Solution Center. Go to Maintenance tab and select Clean to fix horizontal streaks. Your printer will then print a page forcing ink through the cartridge nozzles and clean them.
If problem continues, try to insert a different known working color cartridge to determine if it's a faulty cartridge issue.

I am trying to print something in color using my canon pixma mp640. i have made sure all of my ink levels are good and that my setting on both the computer and printer are set to color. but it is only...

If you are certain that your printer online properties indicates color printing and you can get 'test print' in color (via Printer properties or Printer built-in menu), I would first check that your application is not overriding the default settings (e.g. such as proof/draft mode printing in mono or B&W) or try another application.

If no applications won't print in colors, I would try to re-install the Printer Drivers specific to your windows version.

Lexmark 3600-4600 stops at 34% when trying to print a test page. Color ink is low, but I only want black in any event.

If your color ink is already empty or not substantial for printing, then you must replace it with a new cartridge. The Lexmark printer will continue to print when there's substantial ink in the cartridges.
If you prefer to print in black and white as your default print setting, please follow the steps below: (make sure your black and color cartridges ink levels are good)

For Windows OS:

1. Go to Control Panel.

2. Open Printers and Faxes.

3. Right-click on Lexmark 3600-4600 Series print object and click on Properties.

4. In the Lexmark 3600-4600 Series Properties window, go to Advanced tab. Click on Printing Defaults.

5. In the Lexmark 3600-4600 Series Printing Preferences window, under Ink Use, select Print using black ink only. Click OK.

6. Click OK button in the Lexmark 3600-4600 Series Properties window to save the changes.

Your printer will print in black and white draft mode the next time you send a print job to the printer.

For Mac OS:

1. With the file (you wish to print) open, go to Print. A window will pop up.

2. Select the Lexmark printer.

3. Expand the arrow pointing down beside printer name if you're not able to see other options for printing. Look for Quality and Media.

4. Under Paper tab, select Print in Black and White.

5. Save this as your default print setting. Click Presets option and choose Save as. You can personalize the name for this default print setting (e.g. Black and White Draft or My Setting).

Select this Preset name every time you print your files/documents.

I have a HP Deskjet D4260 and when i print something using HP Deskjet D4200 series its black and white. I need the pictures to be in color

U must be using HP74, 75 cartridge for your printer.

There are few reasons you are getting black and white (gray)...for printing job.

1. No color ink.
- If you are out of color ink.. that's what it happens.
- check your ink level through control panel.

2. Printer set up. (I think this is pretty much the reason you are not getting color)
- First, check your printer setting.
If they are on gray scale mode, pls chang to color.
How? when you click the print (through file manu), there are option for control panel on your screen. Click that option and will see some detail option you can choose from size, print quality.
Among the print quality option, pls choose, color mode instead of gray mode. That's it.

If you would like to save money, try refill kit by "ROADINK".
Not only they are easy, but also the printing quality is good.
For your better understanding pls check out my youtube video.
And will see how easy ink refill can be done.

you can select to print only in black from within the print driver under preferences in the print screen.. but now that the tricolor is needed to be replaced you must replace it before you can proceed once you do that you can select it to print only in blk

Kodak ESP 5 runs out of ink after about 40 pages of standard text black & white documents. Also the color ink level is dropping, but no color is being used (the printer is set for black & white...

As far as the quantity of black & white - to get more out of it - go to start menu.. Click on on settings,, then printers,, Right click on the ESP 5,, click on printing preferences,, then clcik on draft,, then click on (at the top) advanced,, click on black & white.. Then click on apply then ok..
Now - every time you print it will be in this mode.. If you want to print in color - you will have to choose that each time..
For you black & white docs - this will print faster & use allot less ink..
As far as your color issue & puddling - It could be the printer head.. If it is new enough - call Kodak & maybe get a replacement.. If to old - maybe keep the color cartrige out and caped with the plastic caps until you need to print color.. Snap it in & out as needed..
I hope this helped..

Printer won't print in color

I would guess that without specifics I would look at the printer settings. You may have the "print in grayscale" box checked thereby printing all colors in shades of black. I don't understand if you want to print in color or black and white by your question, but the solution addresses both possibilities.

Kodak printer

pls make sure that there is no error in blk cartridge nor ther any warning symbol, ensure as well that you have installed corrctly and you can see the presence of the blk ink on your console. in other areas pls check when printing on the printer properties and select blk to identify what is the real prob.

we can start from here goodluck

0% color ink

We cannot bypass the color ink check, since the all-in-one uses little amount of even the color ink to print in black. Once check the expiry date of the color cartridge and clean the copper contacts of the cartridge and reinsert it again and then try to print. If the issue still persists replace the color cartridge and check for the result, if we experience the same issue even after replacing the color cartridge then the issue is with the all-in-one.

Printer

I had same problem it wont print with just black even by using the settings. You can trick it into thinking the color cartridge are full by taking out the color cartridge and taping over the clear part of the cartridge were you can see the level of ink.Thats how the machine knows weather or not the ink is full by looking through the glass by either light or some other way and if its blocked it thinks its full.
