Transfer Belt vs Transfer Roller

In my experience, the fuser has always been the cause of the lines.

Possible remedies for weak images.
-Loose connection between transfer roller and high voltage supply unit.

-Dust in the laser beam path

-Transfer belt not contacting PCU.

Check the transfer unit.

Defective PCU. Replace the PCU.

Defective transfer roller. Repair the transfer roller.

Defective fusing unit. Replace the fusing unit.

Defective engine board. Replace the engine board.

1. Touch Menu.
2. Touch [Counter].
3. Touch [Display Keypad].
4. Press the following keys in this order.; Stop -> 0 -> 0 -> Stop -> 0 -> 1
5. Enter the CE password and touch [END]. (IF required)
6. Counter
7. Life
8. Transfer Roller Clear

Tray Missing: Insert Tray Tray 1 and/or Tray 2 is missing. Insert the specified tray(s) into the printer. TR Belt Life: Replace Transfer Belt The transfer belt is exhausted. Install a new transfer belt. TR Kit Life: Replace PQ Kit The transfer roller and transfer belt cleaning roller are exhausted. Install a new transfer roller and a new transfer belt cleaning roller. TX Comm Error An outgoing fax transmission error has occurred. Resend the fax. Warming up Wait for the message to clear....

No, your machine is not obsolete. You're probably not finding anything on the transfer roller because it is really part of the transfer unit (part# 675K47088 ) The transfer unit contains the transfer belt and roller. Here is a video that shows you how to replace it.

1. reset count in printer menu
2. clean the optical sensor

Replacing the transfer roller is pretty simple and doesn't require any tools, though gloves may be a good idea to protect the roller. You open the front door using the front latch and the transfer roller is on the door. The part number is 310-5814. Iteminc.com has these in stock and ships same day. Here is a video that shows you where it is and how to replace it.

The transfer belt cleanning blade is under the transfer belt.Remove 2 screw and change it.The bias transfer roller is mounted in two bushings,remove the bushings and 2 springs.The fuser unit : upper fuser roller,lower fuser roller and the cleaning rollers.

Most of the time when I find this happening on a printer, not just Ricoh's it turns out to be the PCU (photo conductor unit). The color PCU is one unit and the black is a seperate unit. Hope this helps.
