How to use fabric softener

Hi..do I need to load the fabric softener before turning on the washing machine?
or, I should load once it is rinsing? if so, does it mean i need to turn off the washing machine first before pouring the fabric softener on the "slot".
thank you

On this machine the compartment is built to hold your softener until it is time to be dispensed. So put in your softener (and bleach if you are using it) at the beginning of the load when you are adding your detergent. The washer will flush the fabric softener cup during the rinse fill to make sure it comes in at the right time for you.

Speed Queen top load washer fabric softener

Hi,

Please check that you added the softener to the correct compartment of your washer. Also, please read or re-read the instructions for adding the fabric softener. Once you've done those 2 things, please run a test wash with clothes that you would not particular care about potentially staining. Thank you.

How to add fabric softner to the amana washer with locking lid

Check and see if there is a cup in the top of the agitator. Some machines have you put it there, turning back and forth during wash doesn't bother it, but the spin to empty the wash water causes the softener to go out through slots in the top of the cup and be held in the agitator. when it stops the softener drains into the tub, ready for the rinse cycle.

Hi, remove the dispenser draw and clean out, you'll probably find a load of unused soap and softener gunked up in it

How to operate the washing machines front load washer brandt bf850

Hi,
  • Open the front door and load the clothing into the washing machine. Check the owner's manual for the maximum load size. Overloading the washing machine may interfere with its ability to spin the clothes and rinse them clean.

  • Fill the detergent receptacle on the front of the washing machine, making sure not to fill it past the indicated line. Always use a liquid detergent that is designed for front-loading washing machines.
  • Add bleach or fabric softener, if needed. Most front-loading washing machines have a section for fabric softener inside the detergent receptacle. Check the instructions on the bleach to find out when it should be added to the washing machine.
  • Close the front door of the washing machine and make sure it locks into place. The machine usually will not turn on unless the door is securely locked.
  • Check the owner's manual to find out how to select the different options and wash cycles. As a general rule, use warm or cold water for most types of colored clothing. Hot water should only be used when washing white cotton items.
  • Start the front-loading washing machine and let it run through the entire wash, rinse and spin cycles before opening the door to unload the clothing.

  • Please rate this solution. Regards.

Fabric softener doesn't empty during wash. I use he softener, and don't overfill the basin. The washing machine completes the cycle, but the softener doesn't empty.

my son had this same problem and when we took the dispenser out and checked the hoses they were clogged with semi hardened fabric softener that didn't pass through. they always used a warm wash with a cold rinse and since i told them to use a hot water wash with a cold rinse at least once a month they have not had a problem. hope this helps.

Hard scratchy towels. Have used all wash cycles, and use fabric softener

have you tried just white vinegar as your rinse aid. Do a full cycle of your washing machine using white vinegar instead of detergent, to clean any residue from pipes, and then in the next wash try white vinegar as your rinse aid.

My front loading LG washing machine doesn't seem to wash as well as I had expected. Actually the only things that I have noticed this in is the wash cloths and towels. They are getting a gray dingy look to...

Once the dingy look gets into them, it seems to be impossible to get out. It is caused by using too much soap and / or fabric softener. Remember, your front load LG is using only about 12 gallons of water to wash those towels. Your old machine used as much as 45. This means that all wash loads need to use less soaps and fabric softeners. Use 1 tablespoon of regular HE detergent for standard loads. (only a teaspoon if it is 3X HE) Only a teaspoon of fabric softener when you use it. Which brings me to towels. If washing bathtowels: You are clean and rinsed before you use the towel. The towel is not getting dirty, only soaking up the clean water off your body. Hang them on a towel rack and use them several times before washing, and when you do wash bath towels, most of the time you do not need any detergent, as they are really not dirty. Of course you should know that you never use fabric softener on loads of towels. Now, back to the dingyness. The dingy stuff is residual soap / fabric softener in the fabric, which once machine dried seems to be impossible to remove. If they are white towels, make sure to use liquid bleach and you might try to use a little Mrs. Stewart's concentrated liquid blueing in the fabric softener dispenser to see if if might help. Most likely you will have to try a few new towels, washing with no soap or fabric softener when laundered.
Please don't rate this, as it is really just informational, not what most people would call a solution, and any rating other than FixYa drops my score.

Note: If you wash some previously washed towel, using no soap, you should not see any soap suds in the washer. If you do, you are seeing soap left over from the previous washing of the towels or soap from build up on the outer washer tub. Use Whirlaway or AhFresh on tub clean cycle or at least the longest hottest cycle you have, and start using the correct amount of laundry additives. (also will help prevent odor issues)

    Fabric Softener & bleach dispensing

The control board program has many sensors built into the unit to determine when to dispense the bleach and the softener.  LG tech documents doesn't list when these liquids are dispensed so there must be a program that matches the current operation and loads of each wash program.  That's the best answer I can give you at this time.

    Fabric Softener doesn't empty

My husband just fixed ours after not seeing a solution on any other site. He pulled out the dispensing unit and pulled off the blue plastic piece on the top of the fabric softener and bleaching section. He then ran warm/hot water (not boiling hot) through the holes where the fabric softener is suppose to flow through. This cleaned out excess fabric softener that had coagulated in the elbow and blocked the flow of softener to the unit.
