There is an unlock switch on the inside of the door. It is necessary to remove the bottom panel to reach it. Once the panel is removed, reach up to the door latch and feel for a pull tab. Pull it down and the door will unlock.

If its a standard top loader there should be a cap you can pry off on top of agitator. Screw or bolt is under cap.

Could be split. Probably any pipe that was slung underneath. Have a look to find out which pipe and replace it.
