My husband just fixed ours after not seeing a solution on any other site. He pulled out the dispensing unit and pulled off the blue plastic piece on the top of the fabric softener and bleaching section. He then ran warm/hot water (not boiling hot) through the holes where the fabric softener is suppose to flow through. This cleaned out excess fabric softener that had coagulated in the elbow and blocked the flow of softener to the unit.

You have to do it manually. See below from manual:
Liquid Fabric Softener (Manually add during rinse cycle) 1. Turn OPTIONS knob to FABRIC SOFTENER 2. Measure liquid fabric softener carefully, following instructions on the bottle, and add during the rinse cycle.
OPTIONS (on some models) Set
this option when planning to manually add fabric softener during the
rinse cycle or when you use extra detergent or bleach to clean hazily
soiled items. It provides an enhanced rinse.
Check and see if there is a cup in the top of the agitator. Some machines have you put it there, turning back and forth during wash doesn't bother it, but the spin to empty the wash water causes the softener to go out through slots in the top of the cup and be held in the agitator. when it stops the softener drains into the tub, ready for the rinse cycle.
Hello, Yes the detergent and softener will stay in the dispenser drawer until the correct time for them to be dispensed. The detergent is dispensed during the main wash cycle and the softener will not dispense until the rinse cycle
On this machine the compartment is built to hold your softener until it is time to be dispensed. So put in your softener (and bleach if you are using it) at the beginning of the load when you are adding your detergent. The washer will flush the fabric softener cup during the rinse fill to make sure it comes in at the right time for you. Hope this answers your question!
It is more than likely that the water inlet orifice is blocked.Get something to poke into the hole or holes in the top of the soap drawer compartment over the fabric conditioner compartment.
This should solve the problem.
my son had this same problem and when we took the dispenser out and checked the hoses they were clogged with semi hardened fabric softener that didn't pass through. they always used a warm wash with a cold rinse and since i told them to use a hot water wash with a cold rinse at least once a month they have not had a problem. hope this helps.
di you try to remove the drawer completely and check for a blockage under he dispenser itself.(sometimes te fabric softener can get kinda gunky.. if you extend the dispenser you see a little black tab in top left corner, push it down and dispenser will release, just in case you didnt know that
yes it should come in during the rinse cycle. if its not coming in at all then youll need to replace the valve that goes to the softener. to get to it take the top off the washer. youll see 3 valves where the hose connect. trace the hoses from the dispenser back to see which valve you need to change
