It would help to know brand and model number.

If red or blue will not move in some direction you may have a convergence circuit problem.

Different sets adjust in different ways and most use the original remote for this in the customer menu and also in a hidden tech menu.

Let me know Brand and Model number so I may assist you.

Yes, It is a JVC model and uses two of the STK-392-110 convergence chips---with the JVC remote you can in the customer menu adjust convergence---if for example red or blue will not adjust in some direction both the chips need to be replaced---very common problem in this and most projection sets.

This model is fairly easy to get at the parts and for many people could be a do it yourself repair---parts cost on EBAY would be under 30 dollars.

I can provide you with photos of what the board that has the circuit looks like and tell you how to remove it---repair involves getting at the parts and being able to solder the new parts in.

    See attached photos

I have a Mitsubishi WS-65869 65 in. Rear Projection Television and it has created a wavey line and has distorted the image. i have a picture of it i can send. Any help. i can send pictures of screen.

If you see separation of colors (red, green) in this wavey line most likely you have problem with convergence circuit. Two convergence amps have to be replaced. They located in a middle of the TV boards attached to big aluminum radiator and they part number starts with letters "STK".
I would recommend to let professional with this repair. Should cost you about $250-$300.
Regards.

I SEE DOUBLE THE PICTURE AT THE TOP LEFT IS WAVEY

Projection TV sets are known to have two common problems. The first problem that is common to these sets is convergence failure. When this happens the TV will usually look 3D, Wavy/Distorted, etc. It may also shutdown and blink an error code.

The second common problem with Projection TV sets is dull video, halos around objects, white looking video, or red overpowers the screen. This is commonly caused by the fluid in the lens being clouded over.

Blue and red wavey lines and distorted picture

Projection TV2_bing.gif sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung2_bing.gif, JVC, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Akai, Pioneer, Hitachi, Zenith2_bing.gif, and others. You can get a convergenece repair kit from the link below.

Common Symptoms include....
  • Screen looks 3D2_bing.gif
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on - TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some photos of convergence problems.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the settings menu then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move RED and BLUE in all directions - up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions or cant move them far enough your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Note: If you TV has as flash2_bing.gif focus or magic focus button only try pressing the button. If it fails to fix the convergence your need to fix it. See below for a solution

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses.
This is a a fairly easy DIY job if you know what you are doing. If you have never done this before we would advise calling a shop or if you want to do it yourself get a complete kit with instructions and support from www.TvRepairKits.com
