Printer would not feed paper no matter how many sheets were in the bin or how clean the printer. I even cleaned the roller. The issue was I just needed a little more tension on the roller that pulled the paper in.
I removed the rear access door (see manual). Off to the left near the feeder roller you will see a spring. What I did is mover the spring to the END of the plastic arm that it is attached to (if it is missing ..you have a bigger problem). If you have moved your printer around a bit, the spring may have slipped down on to the arm and is no longer sitting at the end. This will extend the spring another 1/16 of an inch ...and that is all all it took for me. My printer will now feed a single sheet of paper with no issues. BTW: I put a drop of glue on it after so it would not slip off.
Common problem with these models.....most likely if it sounds like it "tries" to feed you original then the feed rollers need to be cleaned. On the front left corner of the document feeder cover there is a single screw. Remove the screw, open the F1 door and the cover will come off. Now right where the originals feed in you will see 4 feed rollers or small "tires" The 2 smaller ones or the usually the main cause. Just take a cloth with some glass cleaner on it and rotate and cleaned both sets of tires. Reinstall the cover and you should be good to go.
Prior to the issue you facing basically ,you check whether u can reattach the arm or you can try to compare with another drawer to figure it out .See anything that broken or crack pieces.Kindly post pic to me ,I'll might help u.Thanks ,pls rate me!!!!
The feed roller was turning but the paper wasn't moving and so I kept
getting an "out of paper message." The paper was actually getting
caught on a small black piece in the back of the printer. I removed the
black piece and the paper start to feed fine.
Remove the
back access door (it just pops out... no screwdriver required). The
black guide piece (2nd from left) is about the size of my little toe
after I took it out. Use a flat head screw driver to pop it out... that
should leave 3 black guide pieces left. Put the access door back on the
printer and the problem should be solved.
In this Case take out the Paper from the Paper Feed Tray........ Unplug the Power Supply from the Printer.......... Remove both the Cartridges from the Printer.......... Now take a size 10 Envelope fold it so that it should become like a thin long strip........ Now Insert that Envelope on the left side corner of the Printer and move it from right to left and left to right as fast as u can for about 10 times.......... Now Insert the Ordinary Papers onto the Printer and insert both the catridges and Turn on the Printer......
Good Luck
If the paper feed roller is dirty, paper is not fed properly because the paper feed roller slips. Cleaning the paper feed roller could resolve the paper feeding problem. Please follow the instructions below to clean the Paper Feed Rollers directly from the unit.Caution: Since the cleaning process wears down the paper feed roller, perform this procedure only when necessary and no more than three (3) times.
Ensure that the printer is powered on and remove any paper from the Auto Sheet Feeder (ASF).
Press the <Menu> button.
Use the right / left cursor button to select [Maintenance/settings], then press <OK>.
Use the right / left cursor button to select [Maintenance], then press <OK>.
Perform the paper feed roller cleaning three times.
Use the up / down cursor button to select [Roller cleaning], then press <OK>.
When prompted to start roller cleaning, use the up / down cursor button to select [Yes], then press <OK>. (The paper feed roller cleaning starts.)
Check if the paper feed roller cleaning procedure resolved the issue.
Load a sheet of letter-sized plain paper in the ASF and open the paper output tray.
Use the up / down cursor button to select [Roller cleaning], then press <OK>.
Use the up / down cursor button to select [Yes], then press the OK button. (Paper will be fed.)
If paper is not fed properly, repeat step 6 up to three times.
Did you replace the two paper feed rollers? The paper feed rollers are located on the inside front of the paper tray cavity. you can see them by removing the paper tray, then peering inside the cavity.
As far as the actual question on how to remove the side covers on this unit, you must first remove the top cover frame.
Top Cover Frame removal
remove all toner cartridges
press the front latch, and then rotate open the inner duplex assembly.
rotate open the imaging drum cover.
remove the two screws securing the top cover frame to the chassis. ( be very careful not to drop any screws, as they will fall deep inside the frame. I suggest using a magnetic tip screwdriver.
press in the 2 tabs securing the back of the top cover frame. ( use a small flathead screwdriver to insert through the two slots located behind where the black toner normally sits.
rotate the imaging drum cover open slightly, and then pull the top cover frame up and back to remove it from the chassis.
Right side cover removal
remove the screw securing the right side cover to the chassis. ( this is located at the right rear, inside the side cover near the black toner. again use care not to drop the screw.)
press the tab securing the front of the right side cover, and then rotate the cover away from the chassis.
remove the cover.
Left side cover removal
remove the screw securing the left side cover to the chassis. ( this is located at the left rear, inside the side cover near the black toner. again use care not to drop the screw.)
press the tab securing the front of the cover to the chassis
lift the cover upward slightly, and then away from the chassis to remove it.
I had this problem with the same printer and it turns out that some how a screw had dropped in the paper feed. Try feeding an envelope through, left side, right side and center and see if that jams up anywhere. Or just unplug it, turn upside down and shake it. thats what finally worked for me.
