Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. To resolve the issue of paper thickness message you’ll need to turn your printer on and open the lid and there is a small blue lever having two positions, left for regular paper and right for envelopes.

Please do rate the solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Canon i550 yelow light on: "operator error" . Have tried to resume and delete printing tasks and restarted printer

Had the same problem with my I550. Was going to buy a new printer (I4000) since I could get one for about $30 more than the price of a new print head. I like canon printers with the individual ink tanks and have had no problems with the I550 for about three years.

Decided to try moving the paper thickness lever back an forth a number of times since some of the error messages indicated it could not determine the setting of the paper thickness lever. I don't know how the printer determines this switch setting but I thought if some contacts are slightly oxidized that movement might break up some of the oxidation. After operating the lever about a dozen times the printer started working. Hope this will help.

Cannot print 5x7 photo with i550 printer. What do

The i550 is capable of printing 5x7, the print software you are using may not be capable. The paper is loaded in the feeder lengthwise all the way to the right. If you are getting error codes, that's a different story.

Canon i550 problem

The yellow blinking light is not reported in the code errors, take a look to service manual http://rapidshare.com/files/91114670/Canon_i550_i850_i950_Service_Manual.pdf.html
(hard to find but I did it ! )

I had the same problem and I solve it sending the clean head command from the settings of the printer driver (win XP)
I also reset the printer as it is explained in the service manual.

Failed to print

At the head you said 'paper thickness position'and then you seems to have ignored that and did all the other things. Is there an adjustment for paper thickness, a lever perhaps. It does seem to be with the paper feed or paper presence detection. Take a look around, is there something stuck in the paper feed track? Can you have pass a piece of paper through without it rucking up? Do these things see what happens Take a look also at www.fixyourownprinter.com
