Thanks for that komguy....but I am pretty handy with things like that and I had already sussed out this little pressure switch and it appears to be working as far as I can see manually, and when the cartridge is "snapped" in place.. I fiddled obout with it with a precision screwdriver but I only got it to print the first time it gave the error message after numerous times inserting said cartridge. They want about £120 to fix it which is a joke. I believe it may be an electronic sensor not the actual switch which is at fault. I have also done the "usual" like reloading the software. Thanks anyway any other ideas are more than welcome before I buy a second hand model..

hi penned2you, when you say that you have installed new colour cartridge, is it a new refilled cartridge or an original from the manufacturer? cause if it is refilled then most of the time depending on the level of ink that was in it... the printer will not accept it, when you say you have tried different ones, do you mean different empties that were in there before? cause if it is then the printer will not accept them either. to get them to be accepted you have first know that the printer stores 3 cartridges in memory and so you have to let it read for eg. the colour catridge #i, then #2 then #3, after cartidge #3 is inserted then colour #1 will now be accepted. the same goes for the black if you're using original cartridges then these steps dont apply... the only thing i know of to rectify the problem is to clean the printer cartridge contacts and then cleaning the carriage contacts. if done correctly it should work. if not then give me some more info on your situation, casue i would suspect that the printer itself maybe damaged (if it is infact you have inserted more than one different new original cartridges) if these intructions helped in any way please rate it and also to let me know how it turns out.
thanx
bye
If you used a generic brand cartridge, you might try an original HP replacement. I have had many HP printers for service that don't work well with the remanufactured cartridges.
If the new cartridge is an HP, try exchanging it as defective where you purchased it. You probably got a defective cartridge. (Hey, it happens occasionally!)

yeah it sounds like a cartridge sensors are stuck or broken. i would say to replace the whole print unit. It will need a service support dealer to fit this part unless you can buy it and fir it yourself.
Since you are using sublmation ink, the cartridges are probably aftermarket and may not meet Epson standards. Aftermarket chipped cartridges are notorious for failing to 'communicate' with Epson printers, even when the cartridge is brand new. Before taking the printer to a service center, you might try purchasing new cartridges of your ink from your reseller. If that fixes the problem then your fight is with the ink reseller, not Epson. If it doesn't fix the problem and your printer is still under warranty, take it to an authorized service center, and remember, using non-Epson ink does NOT void the waranty.
