Black Ink won't print on my Cannon ip90 Printer

I have been having problems with the black ink not printing on the printer mentioned in subject line. I have tried every avenue available from troubleshooting, to maintenance to even replacing the brand new cartridge just in case the other was a dry one even though brand new.

Please tell me what i need to do and know that I will be so grateful as this has been a four hour ordeal. In addition my HP 7200 series does not print for other reasons, it says usb not recognized or one excuse after the other. I have 30 GB of free space so dont think this is a problem.
Thanks a million for any assistance or direction you may be able to give.
Vivian M Mahoney I have done all the deep cleaning and regular cleaning and my canon ip90 will not print black or color and I put new cartridges in the printer still no printing. What do I need to do? I have replaced the black cartridges, run deep cleans, print alignments, etc. I just replaced the print head as well. Still cannot get the black to print. Please help or my printer will suffer a timely death from my Mossberg!

I had this problem recently with my IP90. Both the black and color heads were clogged. After running the "canned" routines several times to clean the heads and deep clean the heads...still didn't help...here's what I did:

1. open the top lid to have the cartridges that are inserted in the print head move to the middle of the printer.
2. remove both cartridges
3. What is left there is the print head holder. Slightly move it to the right and gently lift the print head lock.
4. Grasp the print head and lift it out of the tank.
5. Have several paper towels hand and know that you will have color and bw ink on your fingers
6. Put the print head on the paper towel
7. Pour rubbing alcohol on the blk and color heads and let them sit of about 10-15 minutes.
8. after that dry the heads and re-insert them in the printer
9. I put new cartridges in the printer and ran clean and deep clean a few times.
10. My color and black and white print came right back!

Hope this helps.

My Cannon iP90 has not been used for about a year. I replaced the ink cartridges, performed a partial and full clean. Printed text is barely readable -- to light printing in black or in color.

The ink dries in the printhead and you need to replace it, QY6-0052-000 runs around $60.00 now, leaving it set is the roughest on these printheads.

It is not printing using black ink. I have

Sounds like your black print head may be clogged. You can get a new one from Precision Roller for $60. Another fact that would confirm that your print head is clogged is if you let the printer sit for more than a few weeks without printing with it.

hi karen,
If you are sure that the ink is present, there two other possibilities: Purge unit work properly so the ink cannot flow down from ink tank or Logic board of you printer is faulty.

Canon IP90 portable . No ink printing.

Have you performed a nozzle test? If one or more of the colors is missing when you do the nozzle test, the printhead itself is likely in need of replacement.

Before considering replacment, perform a clean on the printer. Due to variations between mac and pc, please see your documentation / support files on how to perform the clean on your printer.

After performing the clean, again perform the nozzle check to see if the problem is resolved.

If still not resolved, remove and re-install any cartridges you recently replaced to make certain they are installed correctly.

Black Ink won't print on my Cannon ip90 Printer

You may need to install a new print head. it is very easy to do yourself (basically the same steps you used to install it when you bought the printer- you can also find step-by-step instructions with pictures on cannons support website http://www.usa.canon.com/opd/controller?act=OPDSupportDropDownAct) What has probably happened is that dried ink has accumulated on the print head and clogged it. the "clean print head" option on the printer is a maintenance function that should be performed regulary to prevent a clog; it is not effective at clearing an already clogged print head.

Canon iP90 Printer Ink Issue

I have had the same issue with my iP90.  I think this results from the black ink nozzle becoming clogged.  I was able to get mine to print by cleaning the nozzles. To clean the print nozzles open the Canon IJ Printer Utility, select the printer from the list of available printers and click the maintenance button.  Then, select a cleaning or deep cleaning cycle.
