LED reads, "Waiting for Report Output"

I changed the fax report settings to print a report every time a fax is sent (with pix of front page). However, the LED constantly says "Waiting for Report Output". I can't clear it as it says there is nothing in memory??? I've turned it off, unplugged??? Nothing works. Please advise, Rebecca

Hi!
Please go to fax settings, and adjust the RX Settings.
There would be an option "print if no ink" and set that to YES.

It will clear out the pending report that is preventing you from sending faxes.

Thanks
Rylee

One of the worst instructions ever seen, even after I’ve seen thousands BAD ONES. You had 6 missing steps, wrong menu selections.

When it comes to instructions on ‘How To’ you can’t miss any step, or give selections that are NOT in the menu. Let me give you a simple analogy. Instruction Steps are like clues in a treasure hunt. You start with finding the place where the first clue is, which you use to find the next one and so on until you arrive. Any missing clue, or wrong wordings in the clue and you end up nowhere. Please compare yours and the actual and see how off you are.

Don’t say people should have common sense, when instructions should be PRECISE and you made 7!!! mistakes along the way.

    YOURS:
    1. go to fax settings, *** NO ‘FAX SETTINGS’ IN THE MAIN MENU
    2. adjust the RX Settings. *** NO SUCH CHOICE AS ‘RX SETTINGS’
    3. There would be an option "print if no ink" and set that to YES. ***THIS IS MEANINGLESS WHEN ALL 6 STEPS ABOVE ARE MISSING OR WRONG. EVEN IF ONE GETS THERE BECAUSE ONE’S IS SMART, your wordings are also wrong
    CORRECT:
    1. Press Menu on the printer.
    2. Select Setup, and press OK.
    3. Select Device settings, and press OK.
    4. Select Fax Settings. and press OK
    5. Select Auto Print Settings, OK
    6. Bottom: Print When Out of Ink, OK
    7. Select ‘Print’, OK

Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and when the CD software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

Hi,
If the device is not functioning properly or to clear memory, reset it.
1. On the operator panel, press and hold the <ON/OFF> button for one second. (The display will go blank.)

2. Wait approximately ten seconds and then press the <ON/OFF> button again.

3. Wait until the device has completed its cycling process before submitting another job request.

I'm guessing though you still have a little piece of something caught in there

  • Anonymous Feb 24, 2009

Also check....... That there is may be a paper feed or paper sensor malfunction error. Try one more time to make sure EVERYTHING is clear. You have the entire sheet which is good but maybe bumped something or moved something. Try turning it upside down and making sure no dirt or dust is in it...

Fax confirmation

most printer in the market has the same standard setting for the fax.
u can set the report many types for many user's purposes, some people want to save paper, save ink/toner, so they dont need report if the fax is sent but only print report if the fax is not good(NG or not sent)

it can be set to:
report off--means report will be print out only if the fax is NG
report off+image--means report will be print out if the fax is NG + the image of the page that is not sent(so we know which page is not sent through the image)
report on+image-- every fax activities( sent or not sent) will be reported, which is not recommended
etc....

how to set is depends on your printer, just go to the menu "FAX" and look inside the menu.

We are getting a message "waiting on report" when trying to fax

I experienced this problem when "Fax Setting -> TX Setting -> Print Report" is configured before you send out the fax.

After your Fax was sent, and the message "Waiting for report" appear forever and does not leave.

It is because your INK Level is Low and your have set "Fax Setting -> RX Setting -> Auto Print ON -> Print when no ink OFF", and so the report will not be printed out due to ink level is low.

Solution:
Configure "Fax Setting -> RX Setting -> Auto Print ON -> Print when no ink to ON", and the report will be printed out immediately, the message disappear.
