How do I know if my toner is empty?

As what i have get the past of my printer i will know if the toner were almost empty the print page should become lighter. The printer it self shows the the toner empty they can not print.

I called the OKI help number, in the manual, and they told me that the second line of the error message, was just an additional reminder, to replace the magenta toner.

this messages referes to the waste toner being full or not installed.

Manufactures try to stop you from emptying the container by having a small "window" that the printer looks through, when you empty the toner there will still be some toner on this window, so the printer will still believe that it is full.

a way around this is to wash the container out with water (do not use hot water as this will melt the toner). i also wouldn't recommend pouring the water & toner down the sink as this could be breaking local laws.

I don't know what make and model copier you have but empty out the toner bottle into the trash and reinsert the bottle. If you empty it and you still the error code clean the bottle out and it should go away.

It may need to be replaced after several uses.

Adding Toner
1 Open the front cover.
2 Pull down the toner hopper lock lever and pull the toner
hopper out slowly until it stops.
3 Tap on the top of the toner cartridge 5 times. Hold the
new toner cartridge vertically and vigorously shake it
up and down about 20 times, then invert the cartridge
and again shake it up and down about 20 times. This will
loosen the toner and allow it to flow more easily into the
toner hopper.
4 Place the new toner cartridge with the tabs in the
notches as shown.
5 Slide the toner cartridge along the guides over the toner
hopper.
6 Hold the toner cartridge with one hand while pulling on
the sealing tape to remove it.
7 Tap on the top of the toner cartridge 5 times to start the
flow of toner into the toner hopper.
l If the toner cartridge was sufficiently shaken as described in step
3, it will take about 50 seconds for the cartridge to empty. Do not
remove the cartridge until it is empty. If not empty, tap on the top
of the cartridge again until empty.
8 Slide the empty toner cartridge back along the guides
and remove it.
l The cartridge opening will be closed as it is moved back along
the guides.
9 Slide the toner hopper into the copier and return the
toner hopper lock lever into place.
10 Close the front cover.
NOTE:
Add only one cartridge of toner.

The toner quantity is calculated by usage.

The copier has an "eye" that detects when the waste toner bottle is full. If you dump it and reuse it, the residue can build up and cause the machine to "think" the bottle is still full. I experienced the same problem. If you re-use an old bottle, after emptying, rinse our any remaining residue and dry the bottle out. Your copier should then notice the bottle being empty.

You will need to use the menu on the printer itself to change a setting Press "Menu Select" button to get the menu function Use the right arrow twice to select "Engine", then press the down arrow to the "Replace Toner" menu Press the right arrow for the "Toner Empty" menu Press the down arrow to get the Toner Empty settings Press the right arrow to change the Toner Empty setting to "Continue" Press the "Menu Select" button to confirm the setting. You should be able to print, you just won't have any yellow toner. When you get your toner cartridge, follow these instructions to reset the 'Toner Empty' setting to Stop so you will know when a toner is out.
