SOURCE: the printer is not recognising the new print

When the print cartridge contacts are dirty and the printer cannot detect/communicate with print cartridge.

Clean the contact points on the cartridges with a dry, lint-free cloth.

1. Open the top cover of the printer.

2. Remove the print cartridges.

3. Clean the copper-colored contact points on the cartridges with a damp, lint-free cloth.
Use a dry, lint-free cloth to remove moisture from the contacts.

5. Insert the cartridges back into the printer.

6. Close the top cover.

7. Try printing again.

If you still cant communicate try with new cartridge

SOURCE: my new epson p 50 don't work with new refill ink

  1. With the ink cartridge holder in the ink cartridge replacement position, lift the lids on the cartridges but do not take them out.

    • If the cartridge holder is not in the ink cartridge replacement position, press and hold the maintenance_button.gif Maintenance/ fonte1.gif ink cartridge replacement/ cleaning_button-also-ink_cart_replacement.gif cleaning button (depending on your printer model) until the holder moves out.
  2. Check the yellow tag/flap has been removed from the top of the cartridges.
  3. Push down firmly on each cartridge to make sure it is clicked into place.
  4. Close the lids down gently but firmly so they click into place. Be careful not to touch the cartridge sensor.
  5. Press the maintenance_button.gif Maintenance/ fonte1.gif ink cartridge replacement/ cleaning_button-also-ink_cart_replacement.gif cleaning button on the panel to move the carriage back to the right hand side and start the ink charging process.

    • This process takes about one and a half minutes to complete.
    • When ink charging is finished, the print head returns to its home position on the far right, under the plastic casing. The dx4400onbutton.jpg power light stops flashing and remains on, and the black%20ink%20icon.jpg error light goes out.

  6. If the black%20ink%20icon.jpg error light flashes after the print head returns to the home position, the ink cartridge may not be installed properly. getfile.aspx?rid=110

  7. If the red light is no longer displayed, but Status Monitor still reports a Non-Genuine Ink warning when the cartridges are genuine, perform a full uninstall and reinstall of the printer driver, using the latest driver from the Drivers & Software section of the Epson Support website. For help with this step, see one of the following Related Articles:

  8. If the red light is still on the printer, and Status Monitor indicates that an ink cartridge is not recognised, follow the steps below:

    1. Power the printer OFF.
    2. Disconnect the power lead for 60 seconds.
    3. Reconnect the power lead. Do not power the printer on yet.
    4. Perform a printer operation check.

Epson 2100 will not recognise new cartridges

Change ink tank using "How to..." at Epson status monitor. Check contactor that connected to ink tank chip at carriage. Other possibility is CSIC board (behind the contactor)

Epson stylus dx6000 error message e-02 have tried

Hi

Chances are the mechanism to recognize the ink cartridges is already damage and it may cause a lot having it replaced. I suggest to get a new printer instead specially if you have tried reseating the ink cartridges several times and won't work still.

Thanks for using Fixya

I have just changed the cartridges on my cx5500 and the printer does not recognise the new ink, telling me it is still out of ink

Our printer is telling us that the cyan is out, when we pulled it out, the cartridge was still half of ink, we went and bought another one replaced it and it still wont let us print. saying it still empty.

What is a solution that we can clean the head with, as we realise it's not the cartridge so there has to be a block? CORRECT

Epson cx8400 can`t recognise the ink cartridge!!!

If you mean you have a chip resetter and have reset the chip when you say you've "shock the ink cartridge" then it sounds like the chip on the cartridge is damaged and can no longer be reset. To fix the problem you either need to get a replacement chip or a new cartridge.

My Epson stylus R1900 printer wont recognise an orange cartridge that I bought from Epson, is there a way to fix this ? Lou

Call Epson for a replacement. Get a CISS for your printer. It will save you TONS of MONEY, never change a cartridge again and it will pay for itself in a month.
