Is the waste pad full ?
If the waste pad is actually full and ink is about to overflow, then you need to install a waste container. You can see the waste pad by opening the access panel on the back of the printer.
Changing the waste pad requires almost complete disassembly of the printer, it is a big job. There is an easier way.
Open the access panel on the rear of the printer (remove screw) and look inside carefullly with a flashlight. You will see a tube (down and to your left) coming from the cleaning pump and it will have an open end on it. This is the tube that delivers ink to the waste pad.
Use a piece of coathanger wire or equivalent, and fish out this piece of tube. Bring it to the outside of the printer, thru the access panel.
Find yourself a suitable container (Tupperware or a plastic cup or jar) that is not too tall. Put the tube into this container and secure the tube and container so they won't come apart or lose connection if the printer is moved.
If you wish you can make a hole or notch in the access panel cover so it can be replaced.
Now the ink will go into this container and not into the waste pad inside the printer. If it gets full, dump it.

Change ink tank using "How to..." at Epson status monitor. Check contactor that connected to ink tank chip at carriage. Other possibility is CSIC board (behind the contactor)

Before replacing it you should try this
http://www.marrutt.com/epson-2100-support.php
But, if indeed the head is beyond help, then you can buy a new one from here
http://superimagetech.com/productinfo.asp?id=264
To remove the printing head you must disassemble the printer - after disconnecting the motor belt it needs to be slided out of the rails and for that the entire left side needs to be open.

The lights blink when there is a fault that is recognized by the processor of the printer - something is still working inside the printer, at least at a basic level. In your case the lights stay all lit up because the processor is completely locked up - nothing is still working. Since you have tried all resets then the processor, and the whole printer with it, is dead - you can throw it out of the window, it's unrepairable. Just make sure you don't throw it in someone's head.

Hi Dave,

Chances are the problem is that you haven't removed the travel plugs that allow air into the reservoir part of your CIS. This is vital because the air needs to replace ink used up in printing and if it can't do this the air creates something of a vacuum that holds back the ink.

Also worth checking that you haven't got any crimped (folded) tubing or clamps that are still engaged that shouldn't be.

Hope that helps..

there might be a connection issue here. if it is connected using a usb cable, check if your printer is talking to the computer, that means you will check if the computer can recognize the printer when connected using a cable,
i hope you state the os of your computer, anyways,

if XP click start--control panel--classic view--system--hardware--device manager--universal serial bus controller--look for usb printing support
(if you found it, connection is good)
if it is not there, unplug and replug the usb and try again, try another port on the computer, if still not, try another usb cable, if both usb are not recognized, it might be the port of the printer or computer, ti=o isolate that, try another computer if thats possible.

pls come back and give me a vote. I would really appreciate that, thanks in advance. good luck.

Hi,

1 Open the top cover of the All-In-One. Remove both cartridges. Close the top cover.
2 Power off the All-In-One and remove the power supply brick from the back of the unit.

Reinsert the power supply brick into the back of the All-In-One and power the unit back on.

center.
No: Continue to step 4.
4
Clean the cartridge contacts (click here for instructions) and the AIO carrier contacts (click here for instructions). Continue to step 5.
5
Power the AIO on, reinsert the black/photo cartridge ,and close the top cover. Power the All-In-One off and then on.

Are your alignment tests show good results? If they are, try head cleaning 3 consecutive times without printing nozzle checks. After 3 head cleanings do the nozzle check. If problem persists try printing at BEST PHOTO or whatever is the slowest print setting for your printer. Good luck!

Hi,

Thanks for using Fixya.

If your printer prints only yellow instead of red. The is a huge possibility that your printer's head is already clogged. Try running the printer maintenance by cleaning the printer head. If that doesn't work, you probably need to have the printer head replaced. I hope this helps.

Thanks and have a nice day.

Sir,
there must be the damage in the chip set of your priner or in the cartidges you. If any of them had such fault it would get yelloe print instead of red or it give blue print instead of red. you are suggested to get your printer repaired but there they are not that expencive so you can rather buy new one. thank you

here is ur fix

The paper types available in the driver are dependent on which type of black ink cartridge is loaded in the printer. If the Photo Black ink is loaded, you should have various glossy paper choices. If the Matte Black ink is loaded, you will have a choice of plain or Matte paper types. Once the cartridge is switched, you will get the corresponding paper choices.

It would be strange for the printer to print dot between each printed character without this coming from the system.
As a check the first thing I would recomend doing would be to print a self test print on the printer, you can do this easiest by printing a menu print.
To print a menu print put the pritner OFFLINE
Press SETUP
Press the button under MENU
Press the button under PRINT.
The printer should print out its configuration page, if this has dots between each character then this defiantly means you have printer problems.
You can try defaulting the pritner back to factory settings, this is down by holding down the four buttons (1, 2, 3 & 4) under the LCD display whilst powerind the printer on.

If the menu prints OK, then there is some sort of other strange system or communication problem.
If the pritner is connected via serial, check the serial settings on the pritner also chack the pin configuration of the connector used to print to the printer.

Try printing from another system or application to identify what might be causing the problem for example an application or driver problem, perhaps try printing from a PC directly to the pritner to check the interface on the printer is OK.

Check the emulation setting on the pritner ensure this is correct.
