This T.V. more than likely has a bad lamp. I don't know the model number so look up on ebay for a lamp replacement by model number after you inspect it and find it to look cloudy or exploded.
Your TV is overheating.. easiest remedy is to point a fan at the back of the TV or... clean the inside of the TV, Im sure its full of dust and stuff... this prevents air circulation inside the TV thus creating more heat...
sounds like your dmd module. its the part of your optical block that processes the images that make up what is projected on your screen.. without a model # i can't tell you the part #
call 877-543-8325 this is an LG Executive call center and they will fix this for free. I have a 50" plasma I bought january 2006 which is out of warranty by 5 months. They faxed me and the LG repair shop a 30 day warranty for my tv to cover the repair. Just tell them you heard a pop and in my case the picture is distorted. All they need is the model number and serial number and they should take care of it. No arguing needed.
i have this kind of tv model ru-52sz30 and same problem which i fixed by replacing the bulb. there is an access door at the back of tv that you can replace the bulb. if you need more help just post reply again.
