There is a way of dimming the display and it is by holding the power button for more than 3 seconds. After 3 seconds the display will lit up or dim depending on how it was before.

Advance alarm clock manual

Yes, you can adjust the LED display brightness on the Advance Model 3138 alarm clock. To adjust the brightness, follow these steps:
  1. Press and hold the "SNOOZE/DIM" button for 2 seconds. The current brightness level will appear on the display.
  2. Press the "SNOOZE/DIM" button repeatedly to cycle through the available brightness levels.
  3. Once you have selected the desired brightness level, wait for a few seconds for the clock to automatically save your selection.
Note that the brightness levels are labeled as "HI," "MED," and "LO" on the clock. If you want to turn off the display entirely, you can press the "SNOOZE/DIM" button once more after selecting the "LO" brightness level.

My new TV seems to have a fault, I am constantly having to turn brightness up and I have tried different settings and this is the same, once I have turned brightness up it doesn't save the setting,

Some TVs have an 'Auto Dimming' feature. This automatically adjusts the brightness depending on the light levels in the room. Go into your settings and check if this feature is installed and turn it off.

Dim screen acer 5100-3019

Try going into power option settings and taking the brightness to the max there. Start, control panel, power options, then you should see a setting for battery and for plugin. Hope this helps.

Deem light in display

Occasionally, you may find your laptop's monitor is too dim for your liking. A normal desktop computer's monitor has an on-board menu system that lets you adjust the brightness and picture control settings as you please. A laptop monitor has no such controls. You can adjust the brightness of your laptop monitor using your laptop's keyboard.

1.Press and hold the "FN" key on your laptop's keyboard. This is the "Function" key, which operates much the same way that the "Shift" key does: It allows keyboard buttons to be used for multiple purposes. It's located in the lower left corner of most laptop keyboards, next to the "Windows," "CTRL" and "ALT" keys.
2.Look at the top row of keys on your keyboard for a key with a tiny triangle pointing upwards and the symbol of a sun on it. This is the "Increase Brightness" key. With the "FN" key held down, press the "Increase Brightness" key. On most laptop keyboards this is the "F7" key, but it varies depending on the model.
3.Continue to hold down the "FN" and "Increase Brightness" key until your dim laptop monitor has reached the level of brightness you require. A laptop monitor can only get so bright. It will stop at its highest setting.
4.Release the "FN" and "Increase Brightness" keys. You have now fixed your dim laptop monitor.

I hope you find it very helpful.

HP dv1000 monitor just stopped working.

Description During the startup or boot process of the notebook, the display is very dim and barely readable. It remains dim when it reaches the Windows desktop. Restart the notebook with AC power Perform the following steps to determine if the dim display is due to a hardware failure:
  1. Connect the AC adapter to the notebook and a working electrical outlet.
  2. Power down the notebook PC by pressing and holding the Power button for 5 seconds.
  3. Press the Power button again to start the computer.
If the display is still dim after restarting with the AC adapter connected try changing the LCD brightness. Change the LCD brightness From the Windows desktop, hold the Fn key and press the F7 and F8 keys to increase or decrease the brightness of the display. If using the function keys does not resolve the problem, determine whether the Lid Actuator switch is stuck. NOTE: The key number may vary depending on the notebook PC. The image on the key should resemble the following images: Figure 1: Brightness Level Down c00776225.jpg Figure 2: Brightness Level Up c00776226.jpg NOTE: During battery power operation, the notebook display will dim to reserve battery power. Adjust brightness control using the control panel Some notebook PCs have the ability to adjust the brightness through video drivers. If the notebook PC has video drivers with this capability, perform the following steps:
  1. Click Start , Control Panel and then double click Display .
  2. Select the Settings tab and click Advanced .
  3. If the feature is available, a tab with the video card name will be present. If it is, select that tab.
  4. Adjust the desired brightness.
Finding the Lid Actuator switch The Lid Actuator switch is a small button or switch located above the keyboard and LEDs on the right or left side of the notebook. It may also be located near the display hinges. Pressing this switch when the computer is on may turn the notebook display off or cause the notebook to enter a different power state. Press the switch 2-3 times while observing the display. If the display is no longer dim the switch may need to be repaired. Contact HP service and support for further assistance. Contact HP service and support If the display remains dim after the troubleshooting in this document it may be possible that the backlight is damaged. Bose wave radio/cd

Found this in the manual:

To adjust the display brightness -

The display dims automatically to medium or low brightness, as appropriate for low light room conditions. You can adjust the brightness setting of the display for both strong light and lowest light environments, but not for the medium light setting. Turn the system off before setting brightness levels.

• In a strongly lit room, hold down CD Mode and press Volume up or down to adjust the setting between 5 and 9 (it is preset to 8).
• In a barely lit room, hold down CD Mode and press Volume up or down to adjust the setting between 1 and 5 (it is preset to 2).
• If you do not want the system to dim automatically, set both levels to 5.

Backlight not working

Did you try to set the Backlight on in the control panel? (settings>system>brightness) The brightness is often automatically set to 0. If you did this already and it still doesn't work, probably try an email.

Dell AXIM Screen

First, to dim/undim the screen, hold down the power button for a few seconds. A quick press will turn it on/off. Also, when dimmed, if you tap the screen, it should be fully lit. FYI...to change the brightness in either the plugged-in or battery mode, hold in the scroll dial on the left-hand side and press the navigation button (big round one on the front) either up (brighter) or down (dimmer). As for the time, tap Start >> Settings >> System (tab) >> Clock and see if your time is off by 12 hours.
