My Axim frequently "detects" that the battery compartment has been opened (when it has not been) and brings up the message "battery latch was opened! The system was put into sleep mode to avoid any data loss." This is a constant annoyance. Any way to fix or disable this warning?
Hi Guys
Here are some photo's of the before & after showing where the sponge will be when your Dell PDA is faulty (not booting up or battery latch warning messages & where it needs to be repositioned to, the photo's should be self explanatory, I used some double sided tape to refix the sponge but super glue might work but don't blame me if it runs into the latch mechanize & gluing it up for ever, this does really work & better than messing about with the PCB. I have posted more details on this forum just search for the title ""Why do I get a battery latch open warning Axim x51v"

Problem: Underneath the bottom, left-side catch on the battery lid there is a tiny switch that detects when the cover is removed. The slide lock pushes the catch down into this switch, but often it does not push it downward enough, and when the (slightly loose) cover gets bumped it causes the warning. Fix: Remove the cover, then put a small drop of glue on top of the left side catch and LET IT DRY. This will make a small bump there, that will push into the switch more effectively.

Usually answered in minutes!
I tried your suggestion but actually it aggravated the problem. However, what I did find that putting pressure on the battery cover fixed the issue. I appreciate your suggestion. I just wish that the cover wasn't so sensitive.
Had the same problem, eventually it occurred every minute and the machine was close to useless.
Fix
1. Remove battery lid
2. Stick a small piece of paper in the left "lock hole"
3. Close the battery lid
-this depresses the battery latch sensor and the machine stays on- even when bumped.
