To get to the ink cartridges pull up on the front of the printer just below the scanner lid. There should be a "handle" for you to grab at. Once you lift that up the ink cartridges should move to the center automatically. They will return to their original position after 10 minutes of the lid being open. Replace the cartridges by pinching the latches on top of the cartridge holder and then pressing the new ones in. Close the lid when you are done.

1. I would suggest downloading a copy of the onscreen manual.
2. Open the onscreen manual. Click on contents>Basic Guide>Routine Maintenance >Replacing an Ink Tank.
3. Follow the step by step instructions. You will find pictures that show you exactly what to do.

With the machine powered on. Just lift up on the entire top portion on the platen unit, lower the front verticle cover and the printhead should come to the correct position to change out the ink tanks, just tilt tanks towards the front of the unit and lift out.

remove all cartridges leaving printhead intact.
close cover, turn off
turn on, let power up, error message should be gone.
open cover, reinstall cartridges
if you cleaned your print head like I did you'll probly
eventually end up getting a new one anyway, due to the color variations
but I can at least print text.

Open the cover and the cartridges will move to the left.
Then pop them out from the top toward you.
