I have already asked this ? and no one responded. HELLO is anybody out there. Here goes, again. I have tried everything myself to transfer from my Sony DCR-TRV38 camcorder to my computer so I can make my own videos. It cannot be that hard, I just can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I have connected USB cable & A/V cable. I have even downloaded a USB driver from the Sony website. Help! How do I get started? I have turned off my computer and hooked up everything. It then states open the video capture software. What the HECK. Anyway, tell me an easier way to do this. I have been trying for a week now. My IT guy at work is too busy to help. GO FIGURE. Thanks for your promptness. =^).
I had a same issue but now I found one way using the fireware that comes with the DCR-TRV38. I tried on my windows XP service pack 2.
1. hook up the fireware cable both in sony and the computer. If your computer does not have fireware card, you need one.
2. switch the camera button from "off" to "camera"
3. after few seconds you will see new hardware found and will ready for use. you may also see pop up window to capture the video if you have Microsoft Windows Movie Maker (WMM).
4. open the editing s/w and capture the video. I used the WMM which gives many option to capture the video (ie:DV-AVI, high quality format and many more)
hope this helps.
