The first thing to check is to make sure you have the USB connector plugged in to your computer correctly.
Once you have done this, you may need to start the HotSync Manager application by selecting Start/Programs/Palm

Desktop/HotSync Manager on your PC. Then press the HotSync button on the iQue cradle to synchronize. If you are still having trouble with the HotSync process, you may need to reload the drivers for the HotSync process.

You can set these correctly by going to the Control Panel on your computer and then going to the System Icon (Windows XP users will need to make sure they are viewing Classic Mode in their control panel).

Inside of here, you can go to your Device Manager. There could either be a Device Manager tab or a Hardware Tab with the Device Manager as a button on that tab. Once inside the Device Manager, HotSync the unit.

When you do this, you should see a device appear in the Device Manager under Other Devices named Palm Handheld. Double-click on Palm Handheld and then go to the Driver Tab and select Update or Install Driver. This process should fix any HotSync problems you are having.
Hope that helps........

After installing, set up HTC Sync to recognize your phone.

1. From the Home screen, press MENU, and then tap Settings > Accounts & sync.

2. On the Connect to PC screen on your phone, tap HTC Sync and then tap Done. Your phone attempts to find HTC Sync on your computer. Wait for a few seconds for the process to finish.

3. If your phone displays a message indicating that it's unable to find HTC Sync, try disconnecting and reconnecting the USB cable, and then repeat step 2.

4. When the Phone Connection Wizard is displayed on your computer, click Next.
Enter the name you want for your phone, and then click Finish.

Check the HTC Sync icon at the bottom-right side of your computer screen. If it appears green in color, that means your phone has successfully connected with your computer and HTC Sync recognizes your phone

Does not recognize my connection for active sync

Dell made an entry into the market of Personal Digital Assistants (PDA) with Axim X5. The Dell Axim comprises of families of X5, X3, X30, X50 and X51. The Dell Axim PDA can be connected to the computer either by using a cradle or a sync cable. The sync cable connects the device to the computer directly. Here are the steps for connecting a Dell Axim to a computer using a sync cable.
  1. p 1 The Microsoft ActiveSync software must be installed in order to connect the PDA to the computer. This software is found in the Dell Axim Pocket PCmag-glass_10x10.gif Companion CD.
  2. Step 2 The Axim X51 PDA has a 36-pin connector, while the X3 has a 22-pin docking connector.
  3. Step 3 Connect the USB connector found at the end of the sync cable to the computer.
  4. Step 4 Check the PDA. If the PDA is not properly cabled to the computer, you will get the following message: “Connect your device to a computer using a sync cable or cradle before running the system update. Ensure that ActiveSync is installed on the computer and that the ActiveSync connection is successful.”
  5. Step 5 Ensure that the Dell logo faces upward.
  6. Step 6 Use the sync cable to set up a partnership, which can be done multiple times when you sign in as a guest.
