I have the same one but the silver model.. On Sunday I opened mine to try to remove the dust on the screen from the inside, How does that happen? While trying to open it and move the computer like board inside to get to the screen to blow the dust off, it accidently broke off the wires to battery to the board. Now only plays when hooked up to the computer.

I also had a sansa clip mp3 player and used to charge it overnight and remove it in the morning to use but after a while it quit qorking and would only work if connected to a computer, the people at sansa said i probably burned out the battery because I would charge it for too long of time which it only needed 2-4 hours for complete charge not overnight which I always did. I also opened that one Sunday for first time to clean the screen and noticed oe wire from battery to board was broke off, that might have been the problem instead of the battery being burned out.

Open your's up and check the wires from the battery to the board maybe one is broken.

When you hook it up to your laptop open up my computer, and is it even being recognized by the laptop? In my computer under devices with removable devices it will say:
Since my computer is old mine say but will be similar for you:
3 1/2 Floppy(A:) (D:) CD-Rom Drive on back of computer- Left USB Port Removable Device (E:)
Right USB Port Removable Device (F:)

If the computer is not recognizing the device it will not charge. Also you'll know the computer is recognizing it because when I hook mine up a screen will pop up asking me what i would like to do with the mp3 player such as open with media player, take no action at all, etc.

Why doesn't my hp notebook charge?

If the laptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced. Rechargeable batteries will fail if stored in a discharged state for long periods.

When i plug my charger, the light is on and its charging but after 3 -5 minutes it just stops charging. what di o need to do?

Batteries have a "Life" it is usually measured in cycles (this is recharge cycles) it is generally around 500 to 1000 cycles. If you find that the battery charge doesn't last, you most probably need a new battery.

My smpk4083 wont charge

It can be 1 of 4 things. 1: the way your charging it. 2: the cable. 3: the battery. 4: the conection on your device.
1: Try charging it different ways. (Different wall outlet, laptop, computer, etc.) (Note: some laptops and/or computers might not have a strong enough charge to recharge certain devices. You'd have to adjust the power setting in the control panel or the manufacturers setings.)
2: Try using a different cable. (If you don't have one try wigleing both ends to see if you get a charge.)
3. Try another battery. (Most people overcharge batteries thus shortening the recharging capabilities.)
4. Check to see if any of the pins are messed up or missing on where you plug the wire into your device. (If any are missing you can open it up and replace the part.) Sometimes people end up pushing them in by accident when they conect there charger, so the wire doesn't make a good conection after a while (another case where wiggleing the wire could work).

If unused for any length of time, rechargeable batteries lose their ability to retain a charge. Try it with a brand new, fully-charged battery. FWIW, I recharge all my camera and flashgun batteries monthly.

97% isn't that bad, it means that your battery is fully charged but not the whole way. That is bound to happen specially when youre using youre battery a lot. It will get a lot more lesser in the future the more you use youre battery.
The standard laptop battery starts losing the ability to hold a charge after 300 recharges or cycles. If you drain your battery almost completely at least once a month and then recharge it, it will last longer & hold a full charge longer.

I bought a brand new 170.00 battery for my Dell studio 1737 laptop. It continues to say plugged in, not charging. What can i do? I've tried plugging in and replugging in the charger.

For a new battery, we advise that you update the BIOS of your laptop, and open the hardware automatic identification port of your laptop.

When you use it firstly, you need to discharge till 5%, then charge it about 11 hours. Usually, new battery need to fully discharge and charge for three or four times, which can achieve the best performance.

About the new battery, please set the power management of your laptop: Property -> Screen Saver -> power -> Power scheme -> Portable / Laptop -> please cancel about low battery alarm and serious shortage of battery alarm when use the battery.
For some laptops, you could try to close your power management tool to test your new battery.

You could try to take out the battery from your laptop, and put it back again, repeat several times. Make sure that it isn't a poor contact problem between the battery and your laptop.

If the battery works in higher temperature, the battery protection plate will work and the laptop restart program will make a termination order. You can take out the battery, put it back again, and avoid work in high temperature.

In order to avoid some damage to the battery, please note:
Please don't take out the battery when the laptop is in run status.
Please don't pull out the ac adapter frequently when the battery is charging.
Please use high quality and reliable laptop charger, not to use the universal laptop charger.

Are there something wrong with the new battery can not charging?
That's not usually the case. When equipment for the first time to recharge the battery, the instability of the voltage and current may cause the battery charge to 50% (sometimes more, sometimes less), and equipment stop charging the battery.
If this happens, don't worry. You just remove the battey from the equipment, recharge again. First charging a new battery may need several repeated process. Please be assured that this is normal.

Acer 5315 Battery cHarging Problems

All rechargeable batteries have a limited life, and as they age their charge capacity reduces over time and you get shorter and shorter time between charges.
Recharage batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and batteries over 2 years old are considered nearly worn out. Worn out batteries won't charge up at all.
