Battery life? Hi, I recently bought a used Sony Handycam DCR-TRV6 Mini DV. When I tried to charge the batteries it came with (Sony NP-FM50 and the large Sony NP-FM91), neither one showed that it was charging, and after leaving both to charge for hours, still show no charge? I know this is an old camera -- the owner said he bought it in '01 or '02 but didn't use it often, and it apparently sat in the bag unused for 6 years or so. Are these batteries dead? Would a dead battery indicate something in the LCD screen? When I plug in the AC power, it works perfectly... just won't charge either battery! Help!!

Here is a replacement source

The batteries are covered under warranty for three years. Sony batteries are know for not keeping a good charge after a few years.

If there not holding a charge, they wouldn't appear on the LCD screen at all. I the AC power is working fine, then that probably isn't the source for not getting a charge.

You could try lightly scraping the contacts on the battery and see if that makes a difference and recharge them.

Sony DCR-HC40E when turned on using battery (NP-FP50) power will display the following mesaage "Use InfoLithium Battery Pack" and then switch off. When on DC power it works fine. Also, when I...

It means the camera has detected that the battery is not genuine or not compatible. sony batteries has the data chip that provides the 'info' in infolithium.

check with the vendor who sold you the battery.

NP-FH100

the 'charging' hole is for you to charge the battery. the 'fh' hole is to power the camcorder. no need to put battery on camcorder in either situation but it is convienent to attach the battery to camcorder.

Sony dcr-trv6 unable to load tape in deck

This is a common problem. The code indicates that the sensor for the supply reel has indicated lack of motion. If you have a cleaning tape, try it first because if the head drum hesitates, reel error codes often appear. If this doesn't help you are in for a service situation. There are other electronic failures that can cause false codes and operations in many cases. These usually involve cable connection failure. You still need a qualified servicer. Trouble using dcr-trv6 mini dv camcorder

This is a common failure in this model and unfortunately will not be resolved without a qualified servicer. The error code indicates a message for lack of reel motion. Most often it is an electronic connection problem and not an actual reel problem. Good luck, magic seadog

Trouble working sony dcr-trv6 mini dv digital camcorder

( c : cassette : 30 capstan fg ) ; your capstan motor is stalling - try ( other brand ) new tapes and gently ! swaying camera from side while loading - if loads , your tape mechanism is dirty or is going out of alignment ; - - if the camera will not unload tape ? the capstan motor may be failing ( connector is loose , corroded ) or - it is jammed and it needs . . . disassembly . . . to complete checking .
