I have a sony dcr- trv16 mini dv camcoder. when i turn it on it beeps and shows c:31:30 on the lcd display screen. i tried a new battery, tapes, and keeping the door open for hours. and i use the reset button, follow owners manual it still does not work. HELP ME! thank you.
This is a common failure in this model and unfortunately will not be resolved without a qualified servicer. The error code indicates a message for lack of reel motion. Most often it is an electronic connection problem and not an actual reel problem.

If camcorder shows old recorded tapes picture with correct colors in LCD but does not show live view in camera mode to record new movie then its ccd imager chip failure.
And if camcoder shows live view and old recorded tapes in its eye piece view finder but does not show any thing in LCD the its problem of broekn/ cracked flexible wire between lcd board and main board of camcorder.
Let me know your finding with bit detail to provide you solution/ helpful info.
This is a common problem. The code indicates that the sensor for the supply reel has indicated lack of motion. If you have a cleaning tape, try it first because if the head drum hesitates, reel error codes often appear. If this doesn't help you are in for a service situation. There are other electronic failures that can cause false codes and operations in many cases. These usually involve cable connection failure. You still need a qualified servicer.
