No disc error can be a DIY like the following steps.

Assuming that the disc is good.

1.Cleaning the lens. - Sometimes because of dust the lens can't read any disc.

Try clean the lens by soft cotton buds. Be careful while doing this.

2.Replacing the ribbon - Check the ribbon connected to the lens from the main board for scratch, damage. Once it has an open line then of course the lens can't read the disc. Also try to erase the contact by pencil eraser.

If you've done the steps above and the symptoms still there then the next step requires you a little knowledge in soldering technique and reading the ohmmeter.

3.Checked the motor - Check the motor that spin the disc with an ohmmeter. You can test it using the ohmmeter (x1) even it is connected on the lens assembly.

Good motor - reading should be fairly high and it will spin.

Bad motor - reading will drop to low resistance and will not spin.

Hint : 50% of my repaired unit the above parts are commonly caused of the problem.

If you confirmed that you have a defective motor then replace it with a new one. Before replacing the new motor you have to check the clearance of the disc holder with the old one. The clearance should be the same as the old because if not the lens will not read the disc if it is too far or too close.

If you already cleaned the lens, and confirmed that the ribbon is good as well as the motor then I've advice you to send it to repair shop because the next step should be done with an expert because it is quite technical diagnosing the fault between the pick-up lens and the main board.

Cd wont play it picks up an goes around but wont play need to know what to do

It sounds that the optical pickup unit to your player is faulty. Open the top cover of the player, power it ON and insert a CD in to. Check whether the inserted CD loads well into the mechanism and spins. If do not spins, sled motor is faulty. If it spins, optical pickup unit should be replaced.

Panasonic sa-ch64 cd is choosing the wrong cd

I looked at the users manual. I'm assuming single play slot zero is empty, if not unload it. Do you have your manual, if not, google your model number and select the search result 'manualslib.com', it can be found there. Recheck how your discs are programmed to play, sequential, block, etc. What you're seeing could be normal for how the unit is programmed. The disc was seen as being played, even when powered down, so the unit automatically selects the next disc. Some players attempt to read every slot , empty or not. Again, this may be programming. If a disc was loaded into the laser play position, was another disc placed in that tray position? Your unit has a wide range of programming/ listening functions, over time is could accidentally be programmed to other than what you are used to. Last resort is profession service. Good luck.

Cd are stuck can not eject and cds will not play can hear motor trying to delete but it wont happen

Have you tried to unplug the unit. And leave it unplugged for about 10 minutes. If it is mechanically jammed this will not help. But if it is the firmware that is scrambled, then this will reset it. If it is mechanically jammed, then you might try tipping the unit on the back, then try ejecting it from that position. I would try clearing the firmware by unplugging and leaving for 10 minutes first.

Unit plays well but door goes in OPEN position and will not play and if I keep try it will start to play

Honestly, when the mechanical parts wear to this extent, you're better off to buy a new CD/DVD player, since they are so much cheaper than repairing older units.

Cd tray wont close, cds wont play

Sounds like you probably have a stretched belt on the load motor. Unplug the unit and remove the case which will expose the load motor. Plug in and turn on and press tray in button. You should hear the motor run and if you can see the belt you should see it slipping. Some belts are easy to change, and some are next to impossible. If you have to disassemble anything be sure that you note the position of everything as the timing of the tray, door, laser and most items in the unit is very critical. Let me know if you need more help.

Wont stay open

I had load of these units and the cure is simple. You need to replace the ribbon to the faceplate as these get damaged due to wear and tear. Every unit i had with this fault, i fixed by replacing this ribbon. Buy the ribbon and surround as the new surround is a modified one to give extra life to the ribbon. Hope this helps, good luck!

CD player won't play

Sounds like the reader (laser eye) is dirty. The reason why it says "read" is beacuse it is looking for a disc to play, it's not actually reading the disc, more like searching for data to read. Even if you have all five discs in it still won't play. It's like looking through a dirty windsheild, nowing that there is a road there but you can't see it. This is a very common problem and is easy to fix. Go to your local Walmart, or electronics store and purchase yourself a cleaning CD. It will look like a regular CD but with small brushes on one side and might come with some cleaning solution too. Shouldn't cost more than $20.
