Hello.

Palm backups are located in the following directory: C:\Program Files\Palm\username>\ED\Backup\

When you HotSync a PDA that has undergone a hard reset, HotSync will compare the two devices. When it sees that the PDA is empty, it will attempt to reload any backup that exists on the PC. Once this data is reloaded, the PDA will ask to do a soft reset. This is simply a restart of the device and doesn't affect any of the newly installed data. This returns the PDA to working order, with all the data and programs functioning as they were before.

Hope this resolves your problem.

My old galaxy8s broke all my picture are locked on phone no way to open screen to download files is there any way to get them loaded on to this computer so i can download onto my new galaxy

In order to avoid losing data, it is right that you need to restore your personal files from your dead or crashed Samsung before trying to fix it by putting it to Recovery mode. However, when your Samsung is dead or crashed, you can not start it in the normal way, so you can't successfully connect your Samsung to computer, enable USB debugging on your broken Samsung phone and export your contacts, photos, videos, text messages and etc. from Samsung to computer for backup as usual.
It seems like there is no chance to recover data from dead Samsung. Is it true? No, you can certainly restore files from dead Samsung phone or tablet as long as you have a third-party data recovery tool to help you out.
The Broken Android Data Extraction is a well-known data rescuer for dead or broken Samsung phone, which allows you to freely and selectively restore personal data from your dead/broken/crashed Samsung phones or tablets without enabling USB debugging on broken Samsung devices, including contacts, text messages, message attachments, call history, WhatsApp, WhatsApp attachments, gallery, pictures library, photos, videos, audios, documents and many more.

Hot Sync deleted the entire calendar on both the handheld and the desktop. Contacts are still intact.

Hi Tracy,

Palm creates a backup file of your data so you can restore that file as long as you have not tried to sync your calendar again (that would create another backup file that would be blank.

Here is the link to a forum post that explains how to replace the data file with the backup:

My computer crashed, how do I recover my NTI Backup Now EZ program? My computer can't find the NTI setup.exe.

Many people confuse system back-ups with system restore and/or recovery programs. They are very different. A backup makes a copy of selected (or all) files and stores them to a disc, tape, hard drive, or other device that will allow you to protect your files in the event of data loss. Say you accidentally delete an entire directory instead of a single file. Your backup would allow you to re-load that directory. System restore/recovery files are used in the cases where you either want to reload the computer back to a certain condition (factory restore), or need to completely recover your computer in the event of a crash. These types of files usually need one of two things to work. If the recover/restore software was OEM manufacturer supplied, there may be a BIOS routine that, using a hotkey on boot-up, will allow you to access the recovery/restore file. If it is an aftermarket program like your, recovery/restore files usually need to create a bootable USB or CD/DVD that can be inserted on boot-up, and then the files on that device will perform the recovery/restore. If all you have a a system backup, you may have to reinstall the operating system, drivers, and then the backup software. After that, you can use you backup file to recover your remaining programs/data.

Rikiki external hard drive clicking sound

The clicking noise is an indication of a head-crash. The drive is damaged and won't be usable. Restore your files from your backup drive.

If you don't have a backup drive, you'll have to pay someone to try to recover your data.

I used a Toshiba 1/2 TB external drive with NTI Backup Now EZ software for some years and then the laptop crashed. After byuing a new one the happy moment when all could be restored never appeared. The...

Maybe the restore function only works with the original piece of equipment. Ouch.

You might want to contact the manufacturer of the software to see if they have a fix or solution. Good luck!

Recover lost calendar events on a Palm z22

Hi suzbt:
JOY's answer, that you try to do a SYSTEM RESTORE on your Computer to get the data back is a really good one, that I did not think of! All manual instructions, and USER instructions on doing a SYNC with the Palm Z22, REPEAT : 1/ Always have a back up of the hard data 2/ Always check all transferred DATA on a SYNC, "Even if it states 'transfer Successful'", 3/ Even, if necessary, write down the data, ...
There are a few software programs to identify FILE problems on the Z22, listed on my web page:

http://kidbots.com/WEBADD/Z22_PALM_PILOT/Z22_PALM_PILOT.html

and ways to recover corrupt data, but these are getting more and more difficult to find and use...

User comments on the SYNC indicate that any SYNC is a risky procedure, and backups and re-checking all data is necessary at all times.

I hope that the information on my web site comes in useful in keeping the Palm Z22 up and running!

good luck
