The "override old backups" option is located in the "Settings" tab of the NTI Backup Now EZ 7 application. This option allows you to choose whether or not to overwrite existing backups with new ones. If you have this option enabled, your backups will be overwritten each time you run a new backup. If you disable this option, your backups will be kept separate.

A windows system change wiped everything off my computer but I can't get my NTI to restore. The external hard drive shows over 240G used so it must have something on it. How do I restore?

Try downloading the program called "Recuva" by Ccleaner it should help recover everything you have, also try going to your drive letter and right click and it should say fix disk errors then just fix the disk errors those two things should work

Error message 1324

There are 3 possible reasons why you are getting this error message:1. An invalid character in QuickBooks installation path.2. An incorrect path setting in the Windows registry.3.Insufficient hard drive space available to install the QuickBooks program. To fix this problem, please do the following:
  1. Restart your computer, and reinstall QuickBooks.
  2. Confirm that at least 2.5 GB of disk space is available for installing QuickBooks (Quickbooks 2010 requires 1.5GB of disk space):
    1. Double-click the Computer (for Windows 7 or Vista) or My Computer (for Windows XP) icon on your Windows desktop.
    2. Note the amount of free space shown in the window next to the drive letter where QuickBooks is being installed:
      • If the amount of free space is less than 1 GB, free up disk space before installing QuickBooks or install QuickBooks on a different drive.
      • If the amount of free space is greater than 1 GB, proceed with step 2.
  3. Remove invalid characters from the QuickBooks installation path:
    1. Right-click the Windows Start button and select Explore.
    2. Navigate to the path shown in the error:
      • If there are non-alphanumeric characters in the name of any folder in the installation path, right-click the folder and select Rename to remove them, and then reinstall QuickBooks.
      • If there are only alphanumeric characters in the installation path, proceed with step 3.
  4. Create a new user in Windows to rewrite any Windows registry settings that may be causing the error and log in as that user to install QuickBooks.
Note: You must be logged in as a Windows administrator or as a member of the Administrator group to add a new user.

NTI Shadow 5 gets altered

If the hard drive it's loaded on is very old or is almost full, then either replace the hard drive or get an external hard drive and install it there.

I used a Toshiba 1/2

Maybe the restore function only works with the original piece of equipment. Ouch. You might want to contact the manufacturer of the software to see if they have a fix or solution. Good luck!

My computer crashed, how do I recover my NTI Backup Now EZ program? My computer can't find the NTI setup.exe.

Many people confuse system back-ups with system restore and/or recovery programs. They are very different. A backup makes a copy of selected (or all) files and stores them to a disc, tape, hard drive, or other device that will allow you to protect your files in the event of data loss. Say you accidentally delete an entire directory instead of a single file. Your backup would allow you to re-load that directory. System restore/recovery files are used in the cases where you either want to reload the computer back to a certain condition (factory restore), or need to completely recover your computer in the event of a crash. These types of files usually need one of two things to work. If the recover/restore software was OEM manufacturer supplied, there may be a BIOS routine that, using a hotkey on boot-up, will allow you to access the recovery/restore file. If it is an aftermarket program like your, recovery/restore files usually need to create a bootable USB or CD/DVD that can be inserted on boot-up, and then the files on that device will perform the recovery/restore. If all you have a a system backup, you may have to reinstall the operating system, drivers, and then the backup software. After that, you can use you backup file to recover your remaining programs/data.

I restored a backup from NTI EZ backup but my Outlook contacts and current emails were not recovered. Do I have any chance of restoring them?

You can search your computer for files with a .pst extension by doing a search like *.pst. Once located you can grab them and restore them by opening outlook and choosing to import those files. A bit of a techie solution can be found here How to import from pst file back to Outlook Express AnandTech Forums
