Sometimes when I hit the power button some lights will blink but not all at once so I don't think it's the bulb. It somethimes sounds like it's trying to turn on but gives up. What can I do?

No matter what button I hit on the TV remote, it indicates TIMER on the 1 inch round button on the front. No picture at all anymore, though I started out experiencing a locked up or scrambled picture, which would periodically unlock as though things would be fine. Then, it would lock up again. Now I've got nothing, with blinking Timer light everytime I try something new.

good sound no picture? Red light blinking on front of tv

  • plcarlos10 Jan 14, 2009

So, has anyone figured out what to do with this issue?

  • 40040x Feb 11, 2009

When I turn it on I can hear something power up, the lamp indicator on the front blinks for about 10 seconds, the the lamp indicator then turns off and the Standby/Temp indicator light then will blink for about five seconds. Lastly, the Standby/Temp indicator light stays on and the tv "powers down."

Worked fine one night and the next day this occurred.

The only solution I could find was to put the Samsung in the Repair Shop!
When I get an answer to the problem and cost of repairs I will post it and hopefully
It will help someone else with this problem fix their set just for the cost of parts.
Yea I'm gonna take one for the team!

I have a Toshiba model 65HM167. The bulb exploded about 6 months ago so I replaced it and everything worked fine until now. Now the TV will power on and I will get sound but no picture. The yellow light...

Unfortunately lamps go bad without the visible state of being bad. I don't know who or where you bought the lamp from but I order all my lamps through dlplamps.com
The clicking sound you hear is the lamp inverter igniteing the lamp but the lamp is bad.

My kp 53s65 picture seems to be darker now than when i bought it. is this normal in a dlp tv ? someone told me to change the buld but i was not sure if i should.

KP53S65 is a rear projection Sony several years old--It is not a DLP and does not have a bulb--it has three picture tubes---if the set has not been serviced in a long time here is what you can do to try to improve it:

1.) Unplug set
2.) Remove back cover
3.) You will see 3 black lens (one for each tube)
4.) With a paper towel (spray glass cleaner on it) clean the dust from the three lens---if they have not been cleaned in a long time and have dust on them the picture will be darker and less distinct.

5.) Replace back cover and plug set in to see if this has helped----I have seen some where there was so much dust on the lens that it looked 50% better after just cleaning the lens--depending on area you live in--should be cleaned once a year.

I do this here for free so if this has helped you please take a minute to give me a vote here.

My Toshiba 52HM84 blows bulbs

Ensure that you don't handle the bulb with bare fingers. wipe the bulb with meths and hold the buld with a lint free cloth when you're putting it in. If it's still blowing it's probably over heating so check the fan

The picture (screen) is fading.

You Need A new bulb, its going to pop any minute, you will literally hear a loud pop like smashing a lightbulb. Order one now online, cause it really sucks when you have to wait a week for a new bulb. There easy to install yourself, very simple. Calling a tv man would be a waste. You can fond a bulb online for around 90 to 150, anything over 150 is a rip off, look somewhere else.

How do I test the bulb?

Pull the bulb housing out of the side of the unit and look into the bulb, you will see that it has shattered into pieces inside. Right or left side of unit is an access door with a few screws, loosen and remove the housing holding the bulb. matelectronics carries bulbs.

NO PICTURE

The bulb is bad, replace it, you cannot test the bulb. You can test the inverter circuit, but you will need a service manual and the knowledge on how to work on and trouble shoot solid state printed circuit boards. Good Luck
