I need to remove the base of my Acer AL2216W monitor to send it out for repair, but I don't see how to remove it. Does the stand unsnap from the bottom ledge of the monitor, or does the "tongue"...

You need to remove the hinge plastic cover to get to the mountung screws.
Download the service manual here:

Vivitar 6330s taking pictures with blue line around subject

The lens cap may be loose. Slightly loosen the cap, maybe even remove it SLOWLY.. over a table with a towel on top. Clean the lenses with a camera cleaning kit and reinstall the cap. Use the booklet that came with the camera. I have 3 cameras, as far back as the 1st Digital JVC 1.5 mp from '96 and I have ALL manuals and warranty papers for it. Hope you do, too. Be careful, take your time and do not Over tighten the lens cap. The circular Hold-Down cover over the outer lens.

Nikon D60 newbie : colour distortion / large smudge in photos

D-SLR cameras are designed to be used with interchangeable lenses and foreign matter may enter the camera when lenses are changed. Once inside the camera, this foreign matter may adhere to the sensor, where it may appear in photographs taken under certain conditions. To prevent foreign matter from entering the camera
  • do not change lenses in dusty environments
  • point the camera down when changing lenses.
  • e738ca2.jpg
To protect the camera when no lens is in place be sure to thread on the body cap provided with the camera, being careful to first remove all dust and other foreign matter that may be adhering to the body cap.
Remove foreign matter from low-pass filter
  1. Clean the low-pass filter covering the sensor as instructed in the camera manual or continue reading below.
  2. Have the low-pass filter cleaned by authorized Nikon Authorized Service Center
  3. The Nikon D300 and D60 has the ability to clean the sensor* using the "Clean Image Sensor" feature. Please see page 371 in your D300 User's Manual, and page160 in your D60 User's Manual for more information. *Clean Image Sensor may not remove all sensor contamination and additional manual cleaning may be necessary. See page 374 in the D300 manual, and page 162 in the D60 manual for more information.
  4. Fix images with black spots
Photographs with dust or foreign matter on the low-pass filter can be retouched using the 'Image Dust Off' function available in Nikon Capture 4 or later (available separately) if the image was taken in the NEF format, for more information visit the article on 'How does Image Dust off' work.

Hp photosmart r725 6.2 megapixels.

If you're getting the 18-4489-957-000 error code, then give it a good tap on the corner where the lens cap is. A little tapping and the lens cover should pop closed. When you turn the camera on again it will probably work just fine.

I was just about to junk my camera when I googled the error code and found this very tip in another thread. It worked like a charm.

Panasonic DMC-FZ7 digital camera.

I believe the FZ7 determines that the lense cap is still on when it can't extend the zoom lense because the lense cap is in the way. I would check to see if your zoom lense housing is somehow stuck (could be sand or dirt in it) which is creating enough resistance to make the camera think the lense cap is impeding the zoom lense from extending.

I have error 99 in my camera canon 400d

1. Turn off the camera.
2. Remove the lens, battery, and CF card.
3. Allow the camera to sit without power for approximately 20 minutes.
4. Insert a fully charged battery, and turn on the camera.
5. Depress the shutter button as you would to take a picture.
Does the “ERR 99′ message appear? If it does, then the camera should be
serviced. If it does not, then please proceed to the next set of steps:
1. Turn off the camera.
2. Insert the CF card.
3. Turn on the camera.
4. Format the CF card in the camera.
5. Depress the shutter button as you would to take a picture.
Does the “ERR 99′ message appear? If so, then the CF card is the most
likely source of the issue. Try using a different card.
If the message does not appear, please complete the following steps:
1. Turn off the camera.
2. Clean the lens contacts by gently rubbing them with a pencil eraser
or soft cloth. Be careful that you do not let any debris fall into the
camera body.
3. Reattach your lens.
4. Turn on the camera.
5. Depress the shutter button as you would to take a picture.
If the “ERR 99′ message only appears when one particular lens is
attached, then that lens should be examined by a service technician.
If you see the “ERR 99′ with a different Canon lens attached, then the
camera should be serviced.
