Dark pictures using flash
You could try increasing the exposure level (press AV+/- while rotating the selector wheel to the right) but this will increase the time the shutter is open and increase the possibility of picture blur. Only other thing to do when shooting indoors is to change to a high ISO - 1600 for instance. This reduces the time the shutter is open so working together with the first suggestion you may not notice any difference!
If still too dark, you need a faster lens - you can pickup a 50mm f/1.8 lens quite cheap - this is an excellent indoor lens as the low F number means it lets in lots of light. The fixed focal length means you will have to move around to frame the shot, but they are indispensible for indoor work and a lot cheaper than a f2.8 zoom.

Hello
I have a Canon 400D
The only thing I can think of is a card format. Do it once in the computer and once in the camera. After that do a factory reset for the camera settings then set the image quality to Large jpegs. Also try Googling the strange file extensions a see what info you can get.

I have a canon EOS 400D. a few days ago i dropped
A camera is a very complex device so any internal damage would need a proper repair, it may only be a disturbed internal problem but with fiddly screws and the need to keep dust free a good repair place is needed.
As for you just check and refit any items you can like a card or battery etc, if new and bought with a credit card there may be an insurance on it or you can call on or contents policy maybe, as there are lots of policies on new items for a short time in respect of damage claims.
If a cheap cost to purchase and not worth the cost of repair then auction on ebay to recover some money.
Sorry, hope that helps you decide..........

Whats the best economical lens to use for indoor photograph with
If you are new to photography in general and especially SLR photography
I would suggest holding off on buying any lenses besides the 18-55mm.
The reason I suggest not buying extra lenses just yet is coz you need
to get to know your camera and if you are new to SLR photography then
you need to get your fundamentals right. Sure the 400D will let you
shoot in full auto mode but you will really not learn much doing that
and certainly not be making the most of your camera in that process and
that will extend to your new lenses too.
Get used the the control, the 18-55 is a great little cheap lens with
the pop up flash it will work great for most family pics. The 55-200mm
is a new "cheap" lens, its been marketed as letting you go beyond 55mm
thats why it starts at 55mm goes to 200mm.
Hope this helps you...

Busy flash picture and 3484 code
When showing busy, most of the time the camera detected an error, but can't find out what is causing the error.
Try the normal "reset" method as follows:
Like a cold boot for a computer, the camera can be "rebooted"
follow the following steps:
Switch of the camera and remove the battery.
Remove the memory card and the lens. (if possible)
Recharge the battery. Wait till the indicator on the charger indicates the battery is fully charged.
Check all contacts, if they are clean and shiny. Contacts (from battery and memory card, only to be cleaned with a dry cloth or cotton swab(s).
Reinsert the battery, reinsert the memory card and re-attach the lens.
Then switch on the camera.
If this does not help, contact a certified Canon repair centre.

Err 99 Some other fault.
There is something wrong, but the camera does not know what.
This number is for all errors the camera can't handle.

Why does my fully charged battery show only a 1/4 power and only alow me 3 pictures before it dies?
How old are your batteries, and are they Canon brand or a cheap eBay type off brand? Most times we see this the batteries are old and won't hold a full charge or are cheap off-brand ones.
Has the camera been exposed to intense moisture or fallen into water. Water damage can drain a battery quickly.
There is a software adjustment to set the battery inhibit voltage, but you will have to take your camera to Canon as it is proprietary software only they have
also check for bent CF pins

It may be the lens try a different lens at your nearest photography shop as the auto focus is usually a lens problem. other wise try resetting your cam remove all batts including the lithium one and the CF card wait about 20mins then replace if prob still persists then try again without any lens and see if it trys to focus and make sure the shutter is working if its ok so far then u need to try a new lens at local shop and then if it works the body is ok if not then it needs a service!
