Acer AL2216W LCD Monitor Logo

I need to remove the base of my Acer AL2216W monitor to send it out for repair, but I don't see how to remove it. Does the stand unsnap from the bottom ledge of the monitor, or does the "tongue" remain, and I only remove the flat plate of the stand? I don't want to damage either the monitor or the stand, as I don't remember how I assembled it, and the manual is no help whatsoever! Thank you, Sam Brennan

You may have problem in the logic board, it uses surface monted components no much chance for DIY repair.
Service manual; http://elektrotanya.com/?q=showresult&megnev=Acer&megnev2=AL2216W&kategoria=monitor&kat2=all

The cases these days are hard to open, they use plastic finger hooks types, they go in easy but real hard to remove without damageing them.
Use thin flat blade to crack open at the bottom edge so the scratches will not be so noticeable, and work your way around, look out for cables attached to the front bezel also.

I can see it faintly flickering but it doesn't come on

It may have bad caps in the power supply, bad lamp assemblies, etc. You need to do visual inspections and voltage checking.
http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/Acer%20AL2216W/

If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed ACER monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Why do I have to re-start my Acer AL2216w monitor several times before it will stay on?

Hello,

Slow starting, no power or a flickering display are all indications of a failing power supply. Check out this article on our web site at: http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/repairing-the-acer-al2216w-lcd-monitor/ The power supply board in your monitor should be the DAC-19M010. To correct the problem you will need to replace the capacitors that are failing. You will need to replace 7 capacitors on the board. This does involve a bit of soldering but is an easy thing to do. If you don't want to do the repair yourself we do offer a repair service, you can get the details of that here: http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/service-request-form/ If you have any questions just let us know.

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

I'm attempting to repack my AL2216W LCD Monitor into the original box. When I slide the two foam protectors on the ends, it won't fit into the box. The stand is in the way no matter how I position the foam...

Of course there is a trick to this. Remove the stand by pushing gently on the clip at the bottom. I usually turn it upside down to do this. Then lay the stand on top side of the foam.

I have same problem

Replace the following capacitors:

3 pcs - 220 microF - 25v
2 pcs - 1000 microF - 25v
1 pc - 2200 microF - 25v

Resolder the 2 transformer legs for the inverter.

Acer p221w monitor removing base

Since you have surely looked, it isn't held on with exposed screws.
Check to make sure that the rounded area that allows tilting is not part of the case but appears to be separable.
Most that are removable are held by a tongue and a fairly obvious release tab.

if you can't remove the base, just place the monitor in the carton on good padding and upside down.
Fill and cushion the sides well, mark the carton with 'This side up' and an arrow and hope there are no malicious handlers on the trip.

I've shipped numerous monitors of different sizes and types and have lost none of them to shipping damage.
