Lexmark 1400 printer always does alignment page at turn on wasting ink

We have a Lexmark 1400 which seems to have automatic alignment. But it seems to do it all the time. Is there any way to switch this off?

  • peanut22 Jun 26, 2008

The printer does finish the alignment page and then goes on to print as normal. But the next time I switch it on to print it insists on doing the alignment page again.

Mine does the sme thing. Really wastes ink. It is NOT a problem with the printer not finishing alignment. It seems to be embeded in the Lexmark software and so far, I have not found any way to make it stop.

It sounds that your printer did not finish the last aligment process. If it will finish after cartridge change then it will not be prompted again untill re-installation of cartridge.
When it asks for aligment do the complete process as permanual then the problem will be fixed.

Thanks
Iqbal

Why do I have to waste all my ink on an alignment page everytime I put in a new cartridge? Why can I wait to see if my printer needs to be aligned? Is there some way to turn this bothersome step off and...

The printer is designed to align the cartridges whenever it is re-inserted in the cartridge carrier. You can press the Cancel button to disregard the alignment funtion. However, Lexmark does not recommend this action. This is to ensure proper printing on the paper.

I have this same problem and no solution! (I'm on a Lexmark 2400 and Windows XP.) We need a way to bypass the ****. Somebody heeelp.

I just installed a new color cartridge in my 8650 Lexmark printer. The ink cartridge acts as if it is empty. Printer keeps telling me to align cargridge. Worked perfectly before the new ink installed. Not...

  1. On your computer, go to "Start," "Programs," "Lexmark Series." Click "Lexmark Control Program."
  2. Step 2 Select the "Cartridges" tab. Click "Change Cartridges." The Change Cartridges screen appears, displaying the animated instructions for installing or changing cartridges. When you have finished viewing the animation, click the "Finished" button.
  3. Step 3 Remove the tape covering the print head of the new print cartridge. Insert the new print cartridge as shown in the animation.
  4. Step 4 When the "Choose Cartridges" screen appears, select the cartridge(s) you installed in your printer from the list boxes. Click the appropriate box to reset the ink levels to full. Click "OK."
  5. Step 5 The Automatic Alignment screen appears. Click "Align" to align the print cartridges for best print quality. The printer prints a page with a bi-directional alignment pattern. On the printed test page, locate the number that comes closest to forming a straight line under the bi-directional alignment pattern. Enter that number as the bi-directional alignment setting in the Alignment Cartridge dialog box. Click "OK."

Reset ink-pad counter on epson stylus photo 1400

Hi,

The simplest way to do this is to grab a copy of the A10_IPR utility that Epson distribute to their customers...

The utility is available to North American customers if you register no this site page http://www.epson.com/ipr/

The utility is also know to be available in the wild if you search for "waste ink ipr".

Just remember to scan any download using a virus and malware scanner before you attempt to use it as some utilities contain trojans or similar nasties.

Hope that helps.

Every time I turn on my printer, a Dell 948, it prints a page

Hi
We have 30+ printers... which we use for testing empty inkjet cartridges prior to refilling with ink. Basically we inject a little Magic Inkjet Flush directly into the dried print head which allows us to unclog them. Then we soak them overnight on Magic Pillows which gives just enough to do a PRINT TEST next day.

As some of our printers always try the alignment test here´s what we do...

1. Pull paper stack slightly away from printer, when it tries to print it thinks it is out of paper and should offer a cancel print option.

2. Alternatively if you print daily? Try leaving your printer power on... Some do alignments every time you power up... so dont switch off (they use very little power in standby.)

3. When exchanging inks like HP immediately switch off printer which cancels the print test. Then just switch on again.

4. Reinserting your printed sheets each time will save paper if not ink.

Good Luck!

HP Business Inkjet 1200 printer always prints the Alignment Page

Normal 0 Could have a corrupt driver.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and when the CD software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

It automatically print a page everytime I start my hp psc 1315

Hi Siddarth

In HP PSC 1315 printer after replacing new Ink Cartridges the printer always prints Alignment test page every time you turn it ON.To resolve this problem you must complete the alignment process.

Steps

1.Turn the printer ON.
2.Once its ON, it will print the Alignment page. Place the page in the scanner bed correctly.
3.Then Press START SCAN button.
4.The power light will start blinking, wait until the power lights turns solid.
5.Now Alignment process is over.Discard the paper from scanner.
6.Turn the printer OFF and then ON, it will not print that page again.

Note:Please follow this steps every time when you replace the Cartridges.

Take the test page ( also called : alighnment page ) that always prints when you switch on the printer and place it face down in the scanner.

Then press the scan button on the printer itself.
(this is the button at the bottom of all the buttons on the printer/scanner.)

Make sure that the printer scans the test page.
( sometimes you press the butoon and it doesn't scan )
( it makes a scanning noise when scanning succesfully )

Then it will stop printing the test page ( alignment page ) ever again.

This is a really stupid product feature on HP's part to waste ink and force people to buy more cartriges.

Lexmark X6170 Not Printing on Left Side of Paper?

If the pages printed from the printer directly comes out OK then you may need to update the driver for the printer. If the pages printed directly from the printer menu have the same problem then contact Lexmark again explaining everything you've done. If the person is still not helpful ask to speak with someone who is more able to assist you. Hopefully still under warranty.

Hope this helps!
