Maching went from washing mode to rince mode. It will drian the water but it is making a loud noise. The best I can describe it is: spinning metallic rattel. If I touch the agitator the noice changes pitch. The achitator will not spin, but will pump the water out. HELP

if noise is constant maybe bearings? Is the load even? Not totally familiar with item but the I think the two possibilities above are worth considering. Do an spin on empty. NOISE??? I would guess bearings.

Need a full model #. Describe the noise; is it a banging, scraping, whirring, etc? Does it make the sound when it should be agitating and/or spinning? Has it run fine until this incedent? Thanks.
"If you dont have a noisy spin cycle and the noise you hear is only on the rince cycle, dont be worried, as this is totally normal. Water sprays onto the drum while the spin cycle is in progress and rewets the clothes to allow any existing soap to be desolved. This noise is in effect the water hitting the drum during the rince part of the cycle.
Not knowing what model machine you have, I would hazard a guess and say it is your break solenoid or break arm or a variation on a break system.
After the spin cycle, the break solenoid or motor engages a break arm to stop and lock your spinning drum. The loud clunk is normal especially in Simpson and Hoover top load machines.
You can check this by putting the machine on a spin cycle. Once the machine gets up to speed, open the door. You will hear the clunck and then the drum stops abrublty.
If that is the case, it is normal and no need to worry about it. However, it you did not have the noise before, then best to get it checked out by a repairer.
hi, this is a generic problem with top-loading washing machines. when the distribution of load is not uniform, it gives sound when spinning. if it produces noise even after equal distribution of clothes, the problem lies in the suspension. this is not a major fault, and can be put up with, rather than spending dollars on fixing it. this will in no way cause any special wear and tear for the machine. cheers
I think that the drum bearings have gone on the machine..
To open the door and spin the empty drum quickly by hand and you should
hear the noise or say a less amplifed one.. You can also move the inner drum up and down to see if there is something wrong with it..
