I have a Kenmore HE2t Front loading washer. After each cycle an error code of 5d is shown on the display. What does this error code mean?
5d is a definitely a the code for a plugged discharge. We removed the lower access panel and discovered a virtual treasure: $12.50 in quarters, nickels, dimes and pennies, a pen, a pencil, collar stays, 10 bobby-pins, 3 barrettes, a elastic headband, a draw string, a box cutter, 3 washers, 3 broken zipper parts, a elastic waist band. Amazing it took all to trigger a 5d error code. Hope this helps!
Thank you for the example, I see others have done the same thing and found success. I also took note of the suggestion of too much soap. We are looking at a used set for 350. or less with the dryer gas for my son. Either is a simple solution we can handle. Yeah! What did we do before the internet. You can investigate anything!
this is just part of problem. 5d means sd which means too much soap. See comments coming from sears.

5d is a code for drainage problem. I took the lower front panel off and removed the cover for the drainage filter. There was a quarter and a couple of other things in there,... Once removed, everything worked fine.
It is not a 5d code, it is Sd for Suds. You are using to much detergent or are not using HE laundry detergent. Please see this site for reference.

Hello, welcome to fixya.
Based on your post I understand you have a "SD" error problem (looks like a 5D in the digital display) with a Kenmore washer, the error means an excessive drain time or excessive suds was detected as you may or may not already know.
If you follow the link to my solution to this error designed specifically for "do-it-yourselfers" you should be fixed up in no time. (It's much quicker for me than pasting or retyping the complete solution several hundred times, that's how common this is)

SOURCE: I have a Kenmore HE2T error code F24
The "F24" error code is a heat sensor error code. The following link explains the error code in detail and the steps to correct it:

In many cases, the connector plug on the NTC sensor wiggles loose and causes the error code. Check the NTC connection first to make sure it is tight and making good contact. This may save you a service call and/or replacement parts. Make sure you UNPLUG the washer before servicing anything inside the unit.
A replacement NTC module (if required) can be purchased at searspartsdirect.com for about $10. Refer to the parts illustrations under the "Tub and Basket Parts" heading.
If you have any questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.
NOTE: Each washer comes with a technical data sheet located inside the cabinet. You will need to remove the lower toe panel directly below the door to access it. If it is not located directly behind the panel, it will be affixed to one of the interior cabinet walls. The tech sheet includes all troubleshooting tips, wiring diagrams and fault codes with explanations.

F21 is a long drain...it is taking too long to drain..you have a something slowing down the drain.. you can remove the bottom panel and clean out coin trap... if there is nothing then you may have another problem... but this is the most common problem..
